Interviewed Jul 2011 in Dallas, TX (took 2 weeks)
The recruiting HR was wonderful. Interviewing at branch with the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager was a bit on the far fetched side. The interview lasted 2 hours. Questions asked were a bit unrealistic. One question "If hired, what will be your day to day work routine" This was a question asked before I even knew what the job responsibilities involved.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Edinburg, TX (took a day)
It was your basic interview. The manager and her assistant manager were both present. The questions sound very canned and the interviewer was about 20 minutes late. My advice is to read ehow or monster for interview tips and be prepared for canned responses such as "Why you want to work here," etc.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Austin, TX (took 1 week)
Interview process was relatively easy. I was first interviewed by the branch manager. Standard questions about customer service and cash handling ability. I was then told to apply online. I then received an e-mail instructing me to take an online teller simulation (a standard one that most banks use, which was common sense). A few days later I was called in for an interview with someone in HR that went over the details of the job. I received an offer at the end of the interview and orientation began the next week.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Phoenix, AZ (took a day)
Made a call to human resources department and left a couple of messages. We were able to set up a time for us to meet. At the time of the initial meeting we determined that we would be a good fit for each other. I was told that I would me meeting with different branch managers to determine where I would be working. When I receive the call I set up a time to meet with the manager and the regional manager. During the interview questions were asked but it was a very laid back feel. I was told that others would be interviewing and that a determination would be made later. Once a decision was made, I was offered the position.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Birmingham, AL (took 3 months)
-One telephone screen by recruiter.
-One telephone interview by hiring manger.
-One in person (Panel) interview.
Advice: As there are a lot of unqualified people at BBVA Compass - make sure to qualify the accuracy of your job description, the expectations of your deliverables and how performance will be rewarded.

Advice: Culturally, tenure is rewarded...not performance at BBVA. Negotiate your offer terms with the expectation to realize a small cost of living bonus every year.

Interviewed May 2010 in Houston, TX (took 2 months)
I interviewed in one of the speciality commercial lending divisions. There weren't many questions - mostly asking why I wanted to work in banking, why I choose my field of study, my previous experience and the position. I met with a EVP, VP and Relationship Manager. One thing that would have been nice was to meet with someone currently in the position. Sadly, I never heard anything back until I emailed with an inquiry - It's just rude to not correspond with people who physically come into the office. It's fairly easy to send a form letter.

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Hurst, TX (took a day)
The Human Resource manager called me from my online application and interest in the position they were looking for. She scheduled an interview with the banking center manager and the customer service manager (which was like a supervisor teller or assistant branch manager). They spoke with me about the company and operations, and they asked me about my experience and personality. The people in the office I was hired onto are all very down to earth, funny, warm, caring people... everyone has a good time at this location.

I wanted to make a comparable amount of money as to what I made in my banker position with my prior employer, but I knew it would not equal it since I was take a big step DOWN the career ladder to change companies, environments, position, etc. I did tell them that I preferred to make around 14 dollars an hour, but understood that they had a certain allotment for payroll, and that I was still interested in the position regardless.
