Interviewed Nov 2008 in Aberdeen, Scotland (took 4+ weeks)

Applied online through BP's website withing teh space of two weeks recieved confirmation e-mail requesting a time for interview. There were 3 sittings of interviews each with 4 candidates and I was in the last sitting. Interview consisted of an initially 2:1 technical interview with the line manager and dept supervisor last 1 hr. After that was placed in a 1hr situational interview. Very straightforward.

Difficult Interview
Overall Positive Experience Received and Accepted Offer

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Houston, TX (took a day)

After meeting with BP representatives at the career fair, I uploaded my resume online on my college's career website. A few days later, I received an email with an interview offer. I was able to schedule my interview through the college career website.

The interview was 2 hours long, with an hour of behavioral and an hour where I completed a case study. The case study was very basic, and involved talking to the recruiter about what I would consider, and he would provide me with more information throughout the case study.

I absolutely loved the 2 recruiters I interviewed with. They were outgoing and honest, which made me want to work for the company even more.

Overall Neutral Experience Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed May 2009 (took 3 months)

Applied online and then received a call scheduling a phone interview. Completed the phone interview (20 minutes) very simple, just what are your interests/experiences not hard at all. Received request for face to face interview and was flown out to Texas City for on-site interview. Day long event included several powerpoint presentations about BP benefits and culture, etc. Then a plant tour followed by a 45 minute personal interview and a 45 minute technical interview. The personal interview was exactly what you would expect with a strong focus on experiences within a team setting. Questions about a team meeting adversity, what did you do, a team succeeding what role did you play, etc. Technical interview was weird my question was you are in charge of building a pipeline from the ocean to a refinery 200 miles away and there is a mountain range in the way, what issues are involved here? Then you just talk them through the project and they observe your thought process and what issues you worry about and how you address them.

Overall Neutral Experience Interviewed and No Offer

Interviewed Jun 2008 in Chicago, IL (took 2 days)

it was very interesting and OVERLY thorough. , to the point that I couldn't believe that ANY decisions were made. Four hours I walked out of the building and was confused as to which direction I was facing. Of course I do believe that this is an exception to how things normally are
