Interviewed Jan 2010 in New York, NY (took a day)
There were 2 back to back case interviews, both are 30mins long. The first was regarding starting a milking operation in a small city and the second was a private equity acquisition evaluation.
The interviewers were very nice but because of limited time, there were no personal questions. They give you lots of hints on how to progress and often remind you when you make a mistake (but its best that you don't make any)

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took a day)
Bain usually has case interviews typical of Consulting firms. This winter they implemented a new technique of giving applicants 1 hour to look at a stack of slides and then make some recommendations during a presentation. This stack of slides varies for each interviewer in only the way it is printed. For some it is printed on both sides of the paper, for some it's stapled together, for some it's only paper clipped. I was put in a room with 30 other interviewees to go through the slides, so there was very little room to spread out. The advice I've heard is that on the "recommendations" slide you have to fill out, keep it simple. One or two is all they are looking for.

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took a day)
Two interviewers, back to back. Only half an hour each so very little time for fit questions. Instead we jumped right into the case. The first one was a basic new entrepreneur question, the second one included some back of the envelope question. The personalities of the two interviewers were very different so it felt like they were testing your ability to adapt.

Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took a day)
The interview process took the entire day and consisted of 2 seperate meetings with mid-level managers. Each lasted about 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Each included background and education information. Next came the case studies which were seemingly difficult, but I could have used some more practice, that would have helped. I ultimiately declined the offer for an offer from McK.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took 4+ weeks)
I applied for this position through my university career center. The first round consisted of 2 interviews on campus. Each was 30 minutes and covered information on my resume and a short case study. They notified me about the 2nd/final round within two weeks. This interview took place at their office, and was another 2 case interviews.

Interviewed Sep 2008 (took 2 weeks)
The interview consisted of two one on one interviews. Each interview was thirty minutes long and consisted of some personal questions and then a quick case. Interviewers were very polite. There were other students interviewing at the same time throughout the whole day. They let you know the results the next day.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Los Angeles, CA (took a day)
Applied through the college career center website and Bain's recruiting website. After receiving an interview offer, I scheduled an interview for the following week. Bain interviewed students throughout the day in groups of four with each student performing back-to-back case interviews. We were told to expect the result of our interview later in the afternoon through a phone call and to plan for second round interviews at the office the next day or next week.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Atlanta, GA (took a day)
I interviewed with Bain & Company on-campus at my university. The interview was one hour long and consisted of two 30-minute case interviews. The first interview was an auto car show case concerning entering a new market. The second interview concerned the declining profitability of a major US university. There were quantitative and market sizing portions of the case. Each of the cases are designed by the interviewers from cases they have worked on.
The company offers candidates the opportunity to practice a case with a Bain AC prior to the interview, but substantial preparation on the part of the interviewee in necessary to land the job.

Interviewed Sep 2009 (took a day)
Interviewed on campus, two one-on-one interviews. Both interviewers were very nice. A couple of behavioral questions (generic - e.g. tell me about yourself), then a case problem, then asked if I had any questions about Bain. Cases were different from what some other interviewees got that day. Both cases started with some open-ended questions, and then had a math portion where we had to calculate something such as revenue change or break-even point. First one asked about ways a University can cut costs and increase revenue, then asked you to calculate how many new students they could add to increase revenues $xx. Second one asked if a car auction company should hold an antique auction - you had to find the number of cars they needed to sell in order to break even.

Received and Accepted Offer

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 2 weeks)
Bain makes an effort to reach out in their recruiting process. Interviews were all case based, 2 first round and 3 second (and final) round. They treated us to dinner after the first round and at the beginning of the whole process invited everyone to their office for an interview practice session. After first rounds we met with our first round interviewers and they coached us on how we could nail second round.
