Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Baker Hughes.

Interview

I started my hiring process with Baker Hughes at a career fair. Things went well with the employees there, and I was able to get an on campus interview a few days later after going to a Baker Hughes information session. The second round of interviews was a video interview. This interview consisted of answering prerecorded questions, it was NOT a live interview.

Interview Questions

  • The questions for the internship were very standard, but answering to just a camera and not a live or even skyped audience was somewhat uncomfortalbe   5 Answers

Negotiation

For the internship there was not much room for negotiation at all.

    Interview

I had a first round interview on campus, which was fairly informal with a mixture of resume questions as well as behavioral questions. After hearing positive feedback, they invite me down to Houston for their day long assessment. We had to give a presentation in front of the other 50-100 engineers there about our selves as well as work on a mini project.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Baker Hughes (Houston, TX) in July 2011.

    Interview

The interview was fairly casual as it was for an internship position. A few situational questions were asked. Most interviewers want to know about your background and experience, but they may include some behavioral questions as well.

    Interview

They invite you into an all day process/interview with other candidates. Here you have to deliver a presentation on your background, education, work experience and what you know about the oil/gas industry. They then tell you right after the day if you receive an internship or not which is a lot of pressure. They tell you that at the beginning of the day. Also, you do a group case and present to the group of hiring managers.

    Interview Questions

    • Have you ever been given a case interview question? What was it? How did you solve it? What did you use to come up with your final answer?   Answer Question

    Interview

Baker Hughes recruited at my school and after talking to an HR person at the career fair I was invited to an info session. I attended and was then invited for an interview. After a week past the interview date, I got an email inviting me to a Baker Hughes Experience which is a much longer in depth interview in Houston, TX. There were about 30 other candidates. We had to work in groups and present a case study then individually we presented our own presentation for 10 minutes. Afterwards, we found out who was offered the position.
