Situational questions. Previous experience. Customer focus. Management style. The woman I interviewed with was not very friendly and left me with a bad impression of how it would be to work in her location.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Charlotte, NC (took 1 week)
The application process is 100% online and includes your basics (education, employment) as well as a series of questions (some with photos of displays) to make you familiar with how BR functions and partially figure out if you would be a good fit. A phone interview took place and at the end an face-to-face interview was scheduled. After several days I called to check in (Gap, Inc. sends an email if you aren't going to be offered a position) and they were waiting on my background check to come through (which took an abnormally long amount of time), but eventually went through and I was offered a position in Sales Support, which I preferred.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 3 days)
It was a group interview with the total of 7 people. The managers were nice and was pleased with our answers because we were outgoing and creative. They asked about: why you want to work at banana, when did you received good customer services, what is your style, and how would you sell their products. Since the interview is in November it was for seasonal/part time, but they said after two months and you show good productivity they will request for you to stay. If they think your a self-starter and have good sales skills then they are most likely to call you back.
Negotiation Details
They offer me $8.75 because it's seasonal but will negotiate again if I want to stay after the season is over.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Los Angeles, CA (took 1 week)
I applied online on a monday and got called in for a group interview a few days later for the following Monday, when i came in for the interview they had some others waiting aside to be called..a girl and a guy came out to greet us and took us to the farmers market area so we could all sit and start the group interview..they were very nice they only asked basic questions and let everyone answer them...try to be one of the first ones to answer the questions and be very clear about your customer service and sales experience thats what they are looking for, also availability is very important. it only took about 15 min and they said they would do background checks and that they would call us back by friday. i thought the interview went great but my background check took too long. oh well it was an ok experiance.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
I went on company website to apply for seasonal position. I got a call back about 2-3 days later asking to come in for group interview. There were about 10 people there and I didn't think I would get a call back since 4 of them worked for Gap, Inc. before. I thought it went okay. Next day, I get a call for a second interview. However, by then I had another offer so I decided to decline interview.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in North Surrey, BC (Canada) (took 2 weeks)
Few weeks, after I applied online, I received a call from the Assistant Manager, she mentioned about the interview for Saturday (today), so I went there. Meeting both the Assistant Managers (Women and Men's Department) was a great experience, they were very welcoming and friendly. I was asked simple questions, like 'what was the best and worst customer service you have received?'; 'Tell me about yourself' and 'What did you like BEST about your previous job?'
Truth be told, I am NOT sure if I will get the job or not, but I just wanted to say, that the experience was amazing. I wouldn't mind doing interviews every day, if the interviewees are like the Assistant Managers of this company.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
I applied online, about a week and a half later, I received a call to come in for an interview. I didn't know whether or not it was going to be a group interview or a 1:1 interview. I went into the store at the time of my interview and introduced myself to the manager. The manager was very nice, along with another supervisor or manager who was also very friendly. It was supposed to be a group interview with a few other people, but I was the only one who showed up. It was very nice, and the interview only took 15 minutes. It was actually a fun interview, that consisted of a lot of laughs, and smiles. Manager said that he would call me within 24 hours. I received a call 30 minutes after the interview offering me a job! All and all it was a great experience, so if you have an interview with Banana Republic, don't sweat it, and just realize that they are ordinary people that you can easily relate to.
