Interviewed May 2012 in Calverton, MD (took a day)
I posted my resume on monster.com and a few days later I got a call from Bankers saying that they had seen my resume and I would like to offer me an internship. They repeatedly called me, sent me a text, and emailed me to remind me about my interview. The interview was more like a presentation of the company and the speaker basically told us about his life. There were about 15-20 of us in a room. This was not an internship but a lets start your career as an agent. I was only looking for a summer job.

Interviewed May 2012 in Chicago, IL (took 1 week)
30 minute presentation, Hour presentation. Informative on company policies, but very vague on what it would be like to work there. Like they gave all the equations but you still had to figure out the answers and change the equations around a bit for yourself. Helped to google the company, but people only post bad reviews, nobody posts if they have nothing to complain about, so must take reviews with a grain of salt. we'll see how it ends when i finish.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 2 days)
I was contacted by the company because my resume was public on job sites during my final year of college. I was invited on the phone to come in to a group interview presenting the position. If interested in applying for the position, you were given a form to fill out. I was called back in and hired with very little additional questioning.
That's the insurance industry for you. The interview vs the actual job were very bait-n-switch, but the employees at the company were very sweet.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Hartford, CT (took 3 days)
I posted a resume on Monster.com and the next day I was emailed by a recruiter for Bankers Life and Casualty saying they had reviewed my resume and wanted to schedule me for an interview. I had never heard of the company, but as this was the only interview I had been able to schedule with anybody thus far, so I decided to go. I went, as I see many others did, expecting a one on one formal interview, and was dissapointed to find about a dozen other people waiting. It was not an interview, but rather a presentation about the company to see if potential employees are interested. I stayed for the first presentation, and am going to the second presentation the day after tomorrow to hear more. I am skeptical as it is 100% commission based, but I want to see what they have to say in the next presentation. I will post more after I go.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 weeks)
Walked into the room and did not expect 20-30 other people present for a group presentation. A branch manager presented great detail of information about the company in general and proceeded to educate us about the duties of an agent, what exactly we'll be doing and how agents will be rewarded. There is no salary its 100% commission.
At the end we filled in some paper work, had a personality test and asked if we would like to be contacted again. Got called in for a second interview. Will post more details soon

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Framingham, MA (took 2 days)
This was a very vague experience to say the least. I went in expecting a formal interview but walked in to a group presentation which was a bit upsetting. After listening to a 2 hour sales pitch about the company and "opportunity" I was asked to come back for a formal interview. I must say I am impressed with the companies history and list of services. I will update my review after the second interview this week.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Little Rock, AR (took 1 week)
I was called by someone who had found my resume on Monster.com. I went for a group "interview" that was pretty much just an overview of the company. The Branch Manager was great and up front about this process. He explained that there is a 3 part process to interviews and they do bring in a lot of people through and only end up hiring a few. In my first group interview there were about 6 people. In my second "interview" it was supposed to be a group but I ended up being the only one that was able to come that day. We talked in more detail about the position and the pay structure and everything seemed up front and I decided to go for the actual 1 on 1 interview. Each time I met with the Branch Manager who was great and I'm excited to work for him.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Chatsworth, CA (took 3 days)
Received a call from Bankers. Told me her manager had found my resume (probably from Monsters) and wanted to bring me in for an interview. I asked for what position and she did not have a specific position in mind. Red Flag #1. She asked about my background in sales - none. Management - a lot. She responded I had a lot of management experience, I would qualify for a management position and that I should arrive on the appointed day at 9:30a, bring a copy of my resume and to dress business professional. Red Flags #2 and 3.
I knew walking in this was not some place I wanted to work but felt I needed to go through the process to have something to write in this review. Filled out the questionnaire some of the questions I felt were none of their business and proceeded to sit through a 2.5-hour presentation with approximately 40 other people. Great overview of the company - then the pitch about how much money you could make as an agent - commission only at first, and if you "qualified" for management, you could make even more. Then you were hit with you need to take a test which costs over $200 for the test and study materials. They then brought people in one by one and would tell them if they qualified or not and that they would be receiving a call within the hour to make an offer. I was told I could not go straight to management but must start as an agent first and that I should sign up for the test and study materials right away. At no time was I asked about my background and the fact I had no sales experience on my resume ever seemed to factor in the decision. Again, I was asked some questions that I thought were none of their business such as how much in your retirement account. I respectfully declined to answer.
I received an offer that I "qualified" approximately two hours later. I declined. My observation on the entire situation. They are prospecting prospective clients.

Reason for Declining
I am not a sales professional and was upfront about that fact going into the interview process and I knew this was not going to be a good fit from the start of the process.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in San Diego, CA (took 2 days)
Got an email from a recruiter at Bankers Life, after a little research found out it is an insurance company and basic figured the email was get you in as a agent. Usually I just delete these because of the whole nature of this business to get you in and promise you the world. However, I figured at least I would catch it out. Called the recruiter to ask about this opportunity and later confirm my spot in the interview. The recruiter told me they were hiring for agents and other positions with the company. The interview was an informational seminar with a group of people. They would tell you about the potential dollar values you could make if you become an agent and the whole nine yards. However, not once they mentioned anything about the "other" positions in Bankers Life. Then if you are interested after that, you fill out a paper with some more information and select if you want an interview or not. The second interview was about the same deal only this time with the branch manager, again hyping up the sell of being an agent ... When I asked about the other positions like a recruiter, it was down played and the manager made it seem like it's a no low job ... continuing to up sell the agent position. In short it is just another bait and switch, making the unemployed thinking they may have a job, even if it is a recruiter or office worker.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS JOB TO ANY ONE ...
THE BRANCH MANAGER HOLDS THIS MASS HIRING AND INTERVIEWS TO HELP OUT HER STATS WITH IN THE CORPORATE RIM AND PLAYS ON THE EMOTIONS OF THE UNEMPLOYED.

They run an informational seminar with a group of people. This session lets you know what exactly they do and what they would require of you. They are up front about everything. Seems like a good company. Then if your interested after that you fill out a paper with some more information and select if you want an interview or not. They select who they want to interview call you back and schedule it. The person who interviewed me was really nice and understanding. The company was just not a match for me because of a felony in my background, they will not hire in such cases. He sad it was a real shame because he would have hired me.
