Interviewed Dec 2010 in Singapore (Singapore) (took 3 weeks)
Note that the interview I attended is part of the graduate program - might vary for line hires.
Interview process consisted of 3 main parts:
Phone interview (2 weeks after online application submission) - Usual HR questions; why do you want to work for investment banking, why Barclays, tell me about your resume, and stuff like that.
Excel Skills-based Test (approximately 1 week after phone interview) - Test of basic excel skills and some VBA; stuff like vlookup/arrays for excel and some simple stuff you can do with the macro recorder in VBA.
Assessment Centre (same week, after Excel Test) - Consisted of 1:1 competency based interview with line manager, prioritization exercise (give order of priorities on several selected tasks, explain and interact with the other people at the AC), and case study presentation (also 1:1).
Line manager called on same day in the evening, offer was in the mail the next business day. Relatively smooth process - Managers and staff seem relatively nice; HR was mostly prompt and responsive.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 1+ week)
After all the necessary steps for online application, they'll review and start contacting shortlisted persons. Then a first round of phone interview was conducted. One day after the phone interview, I was informed that I could proceed to a 1:1. Then finally I went to the AC. It was a half day event and consists of 3 parts. A group activity, a competency based interview and a prioritizing interview. I heard that offers were given just 4 hours after the whole day session ended. Super efficient.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 3 days)
Challenging mathematical questions and puzzles. Programming questions were fairly easy for someone with a good understanding of algorithms and some experience in C++. Met some senior management and was taken out for a beer as well.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Houston, TX (took a day)
First I had a phone interview since I was not based in Texas. After I passed, they flew me out to Houston and paid for all expenses. During the interviews there, they all are friendly and help you out. There is a lunch beforehand but do not let your guard down. I made the mistake of joking around, and its possible I did not get the offer because of that.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in New York, NY (took a day)
My interviewer was somewhat cold and not very inviting but helpful when it came to do a technical question. The interview was 15 minutes of 'fit' questions and 30 minutes for the technical question which did not require a lot of finance knowledge or even calculations. Many of the fit questions came directly from my resume, such as explaining why I chose my major, explaining work experience, etc.
