The phone interview was about my knowledge of the financial world. After that there was an interview at the assessment center which was about detailed questions about my resume. Then there was a group activity in which we had to follow instructions given by a lady and there were two guys observing us all the time. We worked in a group of 4 for this activity.

Recruiter called and asked me to submit CV. Recruiter and I reworked the CV to ensure it more closely highlighted my relevant skill set and experience.
Onsite interview closely followed. The interview was with two individuals; one would have been a peer, the other a matrix manager.
They asked many questions about my experiences in Banking, project management, requirement identification and managing customer complaints.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
A senior software developer called me and described the role to me. He then went through my CV and asked me a couple of questions. He seemed really friendly and interested in what I had to say. He told me BarCap would get back soon. BarCap never came back and the recruiter did not provide any feedback.

I had 3 1:1 interviews. It was very strict. The interviewers have a list of questions that they need to go through. Most of the interviewers are not very personable and it was hard to build personal connection with them.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 4+ weeks)
The process begins with the online application. I received an email alerting me to schedule a phone interview which took place one week later. During the phone interview, I spoke with a member of the recruitment team about my motivations and was asked personality questions only. It took a while to hear back, I would say about 3 weeks. I was notified by email again that I was invited to the assessment centre. The centre took the entire day starting with a group case exercise, a presentation in which the group is to present its findings to 2 Managing Directors followed by a 15m question and answer session. The rest of the day consisted of 1-1 interviews. These varied between technical, motivation and personality. I got case studies and brain teasers. Overall, the people I met were gems and gave me a genuine desire to work with them. I received an offer from the team that same evening. Great experience.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
I was called up for a phone interview after 3 weeks submitting my application and was invited for the assessment centre. It consist of 3 stages, 1st up is the competency interview 1:1 for 2 rounds 45mins each where you're bombarded with a series of competency based questions. 2nd is the group activity where you have to show that you can work together as a team and demonstrate teamwork. Lastly it will be a prioritisation test where you're given a list of task and sort out the most important 5 tasks. Overall experience is great as the interviewer are really friendly and the atmosphere is relatively relax. But do not let your guard down you're assessed through out the 5hrs you're there.
