Barclays has a very flat structure - I was interviewed by 3 people, 2 of whom couldn't have been more than 26. Everyone asked basic coding questions - efficiency, algorithm design, containers

Interview Questions

You and I will play a game. I lay out N coins of different denominations (i.e. nickels, dimes, quarters, pennies) in a straight line across the table. We each take turns choosing one coin from either side of the line - meaning, you can only choose one of the end coins. We keep picking coins until none are left. The winner is the person whose sum of coins is the greatest.

I let you decide if you go first or second. Do you wish to go first or second? And what is your strategy?

Applied online, was contacted for a phone interview. Phone interview went very well, organized a trip to New York office for super day. Met with 3 upper level individuals. Interviews went very well, but they only had one spot to fill on the desk, ended up hiring a summer intern from another group. Overall a great experience, the professionals were very helpful and nice. Would definitely recommend Barclays for anyone wanting to go into the big bank environment. They are a wonderful company, I would have loved to work there!

There are 2 round 1:1 interviews. Go through the resume first and then they asked general behavior questions like why barclays and what you can bring to barclays. They probably rated everyone based on your answer. But 2 weeks later got the letter stating you would not get the offer.

First round interview on campus. One-on-one with Barcap VP. Some fit, but more technical. Passed through to second round via phone call from HR next day (late in day). Final round was following Monday, also on campus. Back to back interviews with senior personnel. Focused mainly on fit, conceptual understanding of finance.
