Interviewed May 2009 (took 4+ weeks)
The whole process took a very long time due to disorganization with the company. They were opening up two new stores in a district that had no long term district manager. I should have taken a cue from the interviewing DM who made it clear that once he hired managers he was "out of here". It was several weeks after this interview before I was offered the job, despite him making it clear that I was the chosen candidate. This was how organized the company was at the time. Once hired, I had just two days to pack and go to San Francisco for a week for training. Thankfully I have very supportive and retired parents that were happy to help out with the kids.

Negotiation Details
I was happy with the compensation they offered me and at the time in the economy people were terrified to negotiate for fear of losing the opportunity all together. However, knowing what I know about the company I would say that if you are receiving an offer, negotiate. The hiring managers have a range to work with and chances are they are starting off in the lower part of that range. There are times when your previous salary matched what their current salary is and they truly are offering you the most, but it never hurts to ask. If they've offered you the job, then they want you, really bad. If they aren't willing to budge on the salary, then they probably offered you the max amount.

I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Dec 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I submitted my resume online and was contacted by an BE recruiter a few days later. The BE recruiter did a pre-interview screening about my qualifications for the job before setting up my first interview. The next interview was a 2 part phone interview with the regional manager. The first part was again going over my resume, skills, experience, how my numbers were at my previous job, did my previous cosmetic territory trend higher than the brand average, what exaclty were my percentage of increases (they want numbers). In the second part basic cosmetic sales questions were asked- What was my plan to drive the business? How am I going to make BE the go to brand for cast members at Sephora and Ulta etc. After that was done I was asked to come in for an in person interview to do a makeup demo (you need to bring the model), a training demo and a skills test to make sure I was competent in Microsoft Office (especially excel and reading spreadsheets) I went in for the interview in person, did fine on the makeup and skills test, but not so great on my training presentation. The instructions I was sent to prepare for the training part of the interview said to do 20 minute training on a skincare line, so I prepped to train for a 20 minute training session for a full line. When I started my training demo I was told it only had to be for a few products and completely informal as if I was doing one on one training. This threw me off because I had prepped and had presentation materials for a full line training. (I currently don't work for a skincare line so all these materials I had made myself) The regional manager that interviewed me was really nice and thanked me for coming. So I was expecting to hear something from HR within a few weeks as I was told they would be contacting me. As of today a few months later I have heard NOTHING. Not a phone call, email, voicemail, nothing. I can understand if someone was more qualified and I didn't get the job, but to never respond back to a candidate is incredibly unprofessional. BE your HR sucks and I am not the only one who thinks this just google "bare essentuals corp HR yelp"

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Omaha, NE (took a day)
I met with the boutique manager and brought a copy of my resume. She asked me various questions about my interests, qualifications and how I would handle certain situations. It was professional and I felt very comfortable. I believe bringing a resume with my retail experience really helped to secure my position.

Negotiation Details
She offered me a job and hourly rate. I did not try to negotiate the rate because it was very close to what I asked for on my application. We were able to negotiate my availability. This company has been very good about working around my school and after I finished school they continued to work around my other full time job.

Interviewed Oct 2010 (took 2 weeks)
I was called in for an interview after personally dropping off the application and speaking with a manager. I arrived to the interview dressed for the job. I met the manager, she was nice. We sat out in the mall and talked. She went over the company and it's policies, and what they were looking for in the position I was applying for. She asked some brief interview questions and told me they require an audition which consists of me bringing in a model and performing a makeup application. She set that up for later in the week. I brought my sister in and did a full consultation. Then after another week I got word that I got the job. I came in and filled out a large stack of paperwork and started training.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Paterson, NJ (took 2 days)
The interview process at bare Escentuals has changed over the years partly due to the changes in the human resource dept
Within the past year the company has made effort to better the interview process by having more than one person interview candidates
They have been lax in using the in house recruiter to assist with hiring for the sales staff
As far as senior management they boast when promoting a district manager to the field director level "PUTTING THEM THROUGH IT" this is what they deem interviewing for succession planing
