Interviewed Jun 2009 (took 2+ weeks)
Did multiple phone interviews and was invited onsite. They paid to fly me into HQ from east coast, interviewed all day with staff and line leaders. NEVER heard back from them. I kinda figured it out after I sent multiple emails and voicemails but still very surprised that I didn't even get a polite decline email. Very weird.

Interviewed Jun 2008 (took 4+ weeks)
I was able to make direct contact with the hiring manager and schedule an appointment. The interview was informal, but direct. It was not like interviews described by other candidates that required multiple meetings with a variety of individuals.
Team based work environment, outdated offices being upgraded causing a lot of clutter. Everyone seemed really busy, even a bit harried.

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 4 weeks)
Multiple rounds of interviews. Pretty standard selection process: 1st rounds of phone screens followed by higher levels of on-site interviews. The culture seems to move slower and be very consensus oriented. I've found this cultural pattern more typical in medical and highly regulated industries. Very nice people, open to discussing their particular challenges and issues. Not very definitive on what they are looking for on job requirements or performance expectations. Matrixed environment with somewhat unclear lines of organizational responsibility. Project management practices appear to be immature but improving. (People, Process, Technology) My estimate is a CMMI level 2 organization on a 1 to 5 maturity scale. Benefits seem standard for industry. Pay seems to be in the lower end range, but that may be due to my experience level and the current economic climate. People: very nice and congenial. Office facilities: Very good in the main offices that I saw, but some concerns that they didn’t show me the actual IT work area in another building. Work Culture: Consensus oriented, slower decisional analytical types, a little sleepy, I didn’t notice a buzz in the atmosphere. Saw more buzz in HR. On an impromptu manufacturing area tour I noticed a person at a work station with their head down. However, they are making money during an economic recession. You can’t fault that.
