I needed seasonal work, and I walked into Belk. I asked an associate how I could apply for a job, and she directed me to a computer where I could put in my application. After filling it out I left and was contacted that week to schedule an in-person interview. I sat down with the store manager and had a fairly simple interview. We discussed basic job duties, and he asked a few basic interview questions. He said that work-life balance was a priority of his, and this has turned out to be true. I felt that the employees looked happy and the work environment looked very positive, and after working there I found that this is also true. Dress professionally for the interview and fill out the job application completely. Don't just run through it and leave information out.

Negotiation Details
There was a time when he asked what my pay requirements were, but I am not sure what negotiation there could have been. He gave me 25 cents over minimum wage because I didn't know what minimum wage was, and I put 7.50 down on the application. I was expecting minimum wage.

Was unprofessional a lot of waiting doing nothing office was very busy. Paperwork was lost and never did some of the things they said I did. All they want is experience.

At the actually 1:1 interview, there were a few questions about why I was interested in the job and more about my background.

I applied one day, got a call back the next, and set up an interview for the day after that. It was a very fast process. I go back for processing in a few days. The interview was very easy. They asked basic interview questions like "Why do you want to work for Belk?" and "Describe a time where you had to face a difficult customer". The lady that interviewed me was very nice and personable. I got the job on the spot. I can't wait to start.

The phone interview was brief. A good opportunity to share previous sales opportunities in the retail market. The actual interview was direct and to the point.

after i apply online. i don't know when i apply it. one morning i got a phone call from the department manager and he ask me for a face interview. after the interview he told me there would be other one with store manager. about 4-5 day after the department manager call me for the 2nd interview and sign papers. and i star that day on the floor.

Applied online a week later I got a call back. Came in for the interview and since I got a perfect score on the online IQ/Skills test I was offered the job after some very brief questions. Bascially describe a time when you had to do a big project and describe how you work under pressure. Very general interview questions nothing to out of the ordinary. They Focus on getting the sale and getting a the customer to open a Belk Card.

Had a one on one interview with the former store manager since the department manager was on vacation. Very relaxed and laid back, she wasnt intimidating or mean or cold, and made me really enjoy talking to her.
