Interviewed May 2012 in Saugus, MA (took 1+ week)
I applied online, but didn't receive any call. So I decided to go talk to the manager. She gave me an 1:1 interview. After the interview they gave me a second interview. I think if you get a second interview and don't screw that up, you're guaranteed a job. The questions are pretty easy. On first interview the questions were: (1) Tell me about urself, (2) Why should we hire you? (3)Tell me about a time you had to deal with an angry customer, (4)Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond to help a customer.
For 2nd interview the questions were: (1) If you saw an employee stealing how'd you deal with that? (2) Describe your ideal work situation (3) Describe your ideal boss.
As long as you're confident and show an interest in the company you'll be hired.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Boston, MA (took 1 week)
Filled out application online. Got a call from a recruiter the next day and went through a phone interview. The phone interview wasnt hard, it was just basically talk about your past experience and describe yourself. After that she set me up with an interview with the mobile sales manager. That was about a week later. Could of been sooner but i wasnt available. But the interview with the manager was ok. The manager starts off by asking you to talk about yourself then he talks about his experience and Best Buy. That part of the interview was cool. You get to open up and show your personality. Then from there he takes out a packet and starts asking question from it and writes down your response. Depending on your experience, someone might think its hard but the questions are really those generic interview questions. "tell me about a time when you had to help someone; tell me about a time when you had to show leadership; what are the steps of selling" etc... After that I was offered the job but was told i had to meet with the Best Buy GM first. So that was about a week later. Heres where the bad part starts. I was 5 min late because i took public transportation. When I got to the store i went to the kisok just like the last interview. Had to wait another 5 min to ask for the gm because it was busy. One of the reps told me to go to the front to the security part and ask for the guard to page the GM. So i did that and waited and another "manager" came out and asked why I was late. Told her the situation and rudely she says "yea were going to have to reschedule". Right there i knew i wasnt going to be hired. So I explained the situation again and she said she would go to the back and talk to the GM. 5 min later she comes back out and says "yeah im sorry but he says he has another interview coming in and we have to reschedule and that I shouldve had security page him earlier". I said no one ever told me to go to security to have him "paged". I said this is unprofessional and I walked out. Needless to say i didnt get a call for rescheduling. Im sure someone else might have better luck in the hiring process lol. But basically if you get called in to meet the GM, your already hired. Just dont be late lol.

The interviews knew a lot about the company and its offerings like 401k and stock options. They explained all the processes before the interview started and were very through about the stores financial situation.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Burlington, MA (took 3 days)
I initially applied online. I contacted the company to inquire about the status of my application. I spoke to an assistant manager who asked me several basic questions and then followed up with making an appointment for a face to face interview. When I went in for the interview several days later it was a very friendly environment. The manager was very personable and made me feel comfortable right away. I left feeling confident and pleased. He informed me that I'd be hearing back from them to schedule a third interview with the general manager of the store. I eventually got that call, had the third interview (which went just as smoothly as the first) and was offered the job.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Boston, MA (took a day)
went to the store talked to the loss prevention guy at the front door, and let him know i was there for an interview. A few minutes later I met the manager who would be interviewing me. Seemed like a nice guy was friendly, but we basically jumped right into the formal part of the interview. After answering a few questions about different scenarios(honestly I bs'd my way through most of the questions) he asked how I would sell a laptop. I have a bit of retail experience so i went through the basic questions. What can I help you with today? What will you be using this computer for? Will anyone else be using it? Do you have a computer now? what did/didn't you like about it? after that we had a few more questions and he informed me he would be hiring me. I know a few people who work at best buy and they said they all had to go through two in store interviews but this was the only one I had to do. He then gave me a bunch of papers to go to a local drug test place and told me as soon as that was done he could then bring me in for training.

I put a lower number than I would have liked on the application just because I wasn't sure what they paid. He just offered me what i put down and that was pretty much it.

Interviewed Jun 2009 in Framingham, MA (took 2 weeks)
I was called when they reviewed my application and they asked me to come in for an interview. The day of the interview was a mass-interviewing day. I was dressed fairly nicely and some other people being interviewed were not. I had three separate interviews for my decision. I was offered the job by the third interviewer, the store manager. I briefly spoke with the Geek Squad manager, and he asked me if I played videogames.

Interviewed Aug 2008 in Boston, MA (took 5 days)
The interview is pretty straight forward, they ask the basic questions, why do you want to work here, why should we hire you, tell me about your last job, tell me about your supervisors, what goals do you have in mind, etc. I answered truthfully and straightforward, I wanted to work at Best Buy because it's a great environment, they're very customer oriented and passionate about customer service. I told them about the duties of my last job and how my experience there applied to here and it was very fun interview process. He never got back to me though and he went on a honeymoon so I assumed they weren't interested in me...
