No Offer – Interviewed in Benton Harbor, MI Jun 2010 – Reviewed May 19, 2013 New
Interview Details – They asked me a few questions, mostly pertaining to stealing. I guess they have some sort of problem with that. I was told that it was a 3 step process, and that I was on the first step. If I got to the second step, I'd interview with a manager. The third step was interviewing with the owner.
Interview Question – If someone stole a pack of gum would it still be considered stealing? Answer Question

Interview Details – After applying online I got a phone interview 3 weeks later. The first interview the cashier supervisor interviews you and gets to know you. The next day they called me for the second interview this time the sales supervisor made the interview. Again the next day they called me for the 3rd interview with the GM. On the last one the GM asks you if you saw a coworker stealing a candy bar. You have to make sure you tell them that you would fire them and call the police, this is the make or break question. At the end of the interview the GM offered me the job and told me I need to do a drug test which is just a urine sample, and they also do a background check. 3 days later I was called to go to an orientation on the following day.
Interview Question – If I gave you an option would you prefer to be a cashier or a sales associate? Answer Question
Negotiation Details – I told them I'll be fine with $8/hr but the GM told me they believe in paying more so they offered me $10/hr which for me was great for a cashier position.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Orland Park, IL Aug 2010 – Reviewed Mar 13, 2013
Interview Details – I applied online with a referral from an employee of 4 years. After getting through the online "test" my application was forwarded to the store. I was asked to come in for an initial interview, and as it was one of my first jobs I was nervous and did not interview well (oh well, my fault). I was asked to come in for a second interview and sat down with the store's General Manager (a genuinely nice guy) who was unable to offer me a spot in the position I wanted (PC Sales) due to my lack of sales experience but offered me a cashier position with the possibility of moving up (as Best Buy hires in-house first for nearly all positions).
Interview Question – The questions were pretty standard. Some tricky ones like "what would you consider your greatest weakness" but nothing too bad. A huge tip is to not mention salary/money at all in the interview process, if you get offered the job you can negotiate then, but the company looks for new hires with the motivation to do good work. If you're motivated by money Best Buy is not for you. Answer Question

I applied online and about 3 weeks later I was contacted by the Multi Channel supervisor asking for an interview. I came and answered some normal interview questions and I am now waiting for the call to come in for my final interview.
Unlike most people, there was no phone interview for me; just a phone call asking when I could come in for an interview.
