Interviewed Feb 2011 in Southfield, MI (took a day)
The guy that was doing the interview was an hour late. The interview took place in the security camera room and he had three questions. Why do you want to work here ? what do you do in your spare time? and do I play sports.I guess he didn't believe my answers and kept saying "I'm trying to get to know your personality so drop the formalities".The interview was off topic and probably the worst interview I've ever witnessed .Do not apply to this particular best buy.

Interviewed Feb 2007 in Madison Heights, MI (took 2 weeks)
The interview lasted only a few minutes at the district manager level. Based on my experience you are sized up based mostly on appearance, ethnicity and ability to answer some, not very probing, questions. Overall impression is a result based employment status with very little personal development. Sink or swim type of training program. I was very successful with the company but you will need to bring a lot of experience in motivating employees and managing operations to be successful as the company is very good at telling you what needs to be done but not good at all when telling you how to get it done.

Negotiation Details
They will come across as not willing to negotiate but depending on who you talk to and how much they like you, there is definitely room to negotiate everything but health care.

Interviewed May 2007 in Port Huron, MI (took 1+ week)
The interview process was a very good interview process in ensuring that the company is getting the correct employee to fill the positions. The hiring process also goes very well because they do a lot of training to make sure you actually feel comfortable in that job title. As a Best Buy employee I am very happy with the company as a whole.
