Interviewed Oct 2010 in Pasadena, TX (took 4+ weeks)
There are three interviews stages. Generally, if they call you for a second interview, you're hired. The questions are pretty general interview questions, such as "How are you qualified for the position you're applying for?" and "Why should we hire you for the position?"

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Houston, TX (took a day)
I applied online at bestbuy.com for cashier the second Wednesday of November in the early afternoon. I actually received a call later that evening from a lady asking me about my availability, how much I wanted to work for Best Buy, my top three departments I wanted to work in, and one situational question. And at the end I was asked to come in for an interview. The scheduled time was for 3:30 the next day, and when I arrived I had to wait around forty five minutes to have the interview with one of the main store managers, it seemed pretty hectic at the store. That interview went really well: I was asked several situational questions about how I did during certain scenarios in my previous experience. It was a really funny guy and it seemed liked he really liked what I said and the questions I asked. He said I would received a call in at most two days. On my way home I receive a call inviting me to have another interview in thirty minutes. Another forty five minute wait and this time it was a little harder. More "explain a situation when you" questions, a role playing scenario trying to convince him to buy a video game system, and "selling" myself. I wasn't sure if I did well or not, this manager was strictly business but at the end he offered me the job for Gaming specialist at $9/hr and gave me the info and drug test papers. Started orientation two days later. It all went pretty well. Very quick turnaround.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Houston, TX (took a day)
Worst interview ever!! The interview was placed a few weeks after I applied. The interview was scheduled for 2 pm and I came 15 minutes early. I was waiting to be interviewed for a really long time! the Interview happened around 2:40. Then the manager took me to some dark room all the way in the back of the store to "not get distracted". I felt like I was being interrogated or something. There was only one light which barely lit the room. After that, the interviewer started asking me questions and when he got to the work experience part, it had someone else's work experience which screwed up the whole thing. After that, he said if they don't call within 24-48 hours, I didn't get the job. I'm a really patient person who doesn't get angry often, but this made me both impatient and angry! Worst experience!

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Spring, TX (took 2 weeks)
Alright well to begin, i have not yet finished the interviewing process however, i will tell you how it went. I showed up around 15-20 minutes early dressed professionally( MEANING NO JEANS GUYS...) and checked in to let them know i was here. within 4-5 minutes of walking around a man from geek squad had me follow him to an office at which he interviewed me. the interview lasted maybe 20 minutes and i was told that i would be instantly passing on to the 2nd of 3 interviews done. NONE of which would be a GROUP interview. anyways...to sum this up you want to arrive early, dressed professionally, and try to be as calm as possible, and just breath. you want to appear calm and confident(meaning show no signs of nerves such as fidgeting or lack of eye contact) sit strait in your chair and keep a calm look on your face. also, it helps to throw some humor in there to lighten the mood too ;)
I will keep you posted as each interview goes by.
Update 09/17/2011:
Took me some time before i could get this posted but after my first interview i was immediatly informed that i would be moved strait to the next interview and that i would be contacted within the next week. 2 hours later they called me to set up an interview which suprised me. i am very happy so far with the way this process is being handled.
update:
at the third interview i was informed that once you got to a third interview your already a part of the team(considering you pass the drug and background stuff. the general manage was extremely nice and called me a perfect candidate because of my skill set and other details. overall i am very excited to begin working here and was happy with how hard the interview process seemed to be as it weeds out the bad employees quickly.

Interviewed May 2010 in Sugar Land, TX (took 2 days)
Initial interview was with an employee with a management position, later to be interviewed by the manager of the store himself. The first interview basically processed why I had applied to the position and why I had chosen Best buy. The interviewer seemed to be very positive and light-hearted, help lightening the atmosphere to an almost casual feel.
When meeting for the second interview with the store manager, it was a bit overwhelming as he was a bit more straight forward and proceeded reviewing the resume, and asking what activities I participated in outside of the workplace.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Pasadena, TX (took a day)
I applied for this job online at certain location and when I got a call from the HR about an interview they sent me to a store that I didn't apply for. This still didn't seem like a problem though because I really wanted a job working around computers. Walking into the store for the interview the employees seemed nice and the work environment seemed like a good one. The managers were a little behind on interview so I had a chance to review my good answers to any question asked. When I met the manager I shook his hand firmly like an person wanting a job should do. I came in and he seemed relaxed at the time. He handed me a paper to sign off on an interview, which I never have seen before but I initialed like I am supposed to do. Then it was down to business with the questions, so upon questioning I remained eye contact with him. During questioning he seemed more nervous than me. He was jumpy and didn't remain eye contact with me and asked me the same question in different wording several times. He asked me questions and to elaborate and I did, but he never marked down my full response. I showed him a CCNA Course completion document and my resume along with my graduation date from school and he looked like he really didn't want someone with this much skills in computers. Bottom line if you are a good computer trouble shooter don't waiste your time this job is more for a sales rep.

Interviewed May 2011 in Houston, TX (took 2 weeks)
The Hiring process first starts with an online application. You enter basic information, such as age, the school you graduated from, and if any higher education or any degrees listed you can select those two. Then comes a 100+ or less questionaire which ask questions such as are you a talkative person? do you like being in the crowd, or being a leader?

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Houston, TX (took 2 days)
I applied for best buy online a few weeks before I got a call from a nice women asking basic questions about how much did I want to work for best buy. After that, I went into a group interview the next day where 2 store supurvisors asked various open ended questions. Later that day, I got a call for an interview the next day where I met with a store manager. The manager asked more detailed questions about what areas (in the store) I'm most familiar with. Overall easy process

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Houston, TX (took 2 days)
I arrived 15 mins early for the interview where i was met in the lobby by 6 other interview candidates. We then went into the room where the interview was going to be held. The position I applied for is at a new Best Buy location close to my house that will be opening in a couple of weeks. We had a brief get to know each other session, answered questions about ourselves (what position in the store would we like to work at, what influences us to do our best, what holds us back from doing our best, our hobbies, etc.). We also did a couple of fun activities so the Managers could see how well we work with others or in a group. Then they took us each aside for our 1:1 interviews and to schedule a 3rd interview with the GM. My interview with the GM is in the morning and I am greatly looking forward to it.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Houston, TX (took 4 days)
Online Application requires a personality test of sorts. You have to be in the 'green' to go further.
Once Store sees application, (they will only look at the pool if they are currently hiring) they will call you.
Most stores will then screen applicants over the phone and weed out anyone they aren't interested in.
At that time, you will generally get an interview with a supervisor or a manager, followed by a 2nd interview with a manager (if 1st handled by sup), and if you continue on, your last interview will be with the GM.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Money not in line with my experience. 20+ years in the computer repair industry justifies more than $11/hr in my opinion
