Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 1 week)
At first, I simply applied online and got a call the next day. The call consisted of several simple questions and supposedly counted as my first interview. We set up a time for a second interview a couple days later. That second interview was with a department manager and was short (maybe 15 minutes) which consisted of simple questions and specifying what times I could work. After that, I was scheduled for a third and longer interview with the general manager which was actually pretty easy. I was signing paper work for the most part, and expanding upon my past work history. Then he laid out some terms and offered me the job.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I had to originally apply online. A few days later I called the store directly. It took a few days then I had a 1:1 Interview. Once the position was offered, I then had to submit to a drug test and backround check. It took a couple of weeks to get the backround check returned. Mind you, this was during the holiday season, but it still seemed to take to long.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Columbus, IN (took 3 days)
I applied online to Best Buy for a Sales Associate position. A few days later, I was called in for an interview. The first interview was your basic run-of-the-mill one, with the 'Why do you want to work for us?' and 'What is your educational/work background?' questions. I was told that the manager that does the second interview was tied up with a meeting that day and couldn't do it then, but they'd call me back when there was time. A couple days later, I came back in for the second interview. It was a little more in depth, the questions being more along the lines of 'Tell me about a time when...' or 'In this circumstance what would you do?' The manager seemed a bit standoffish or shy, but overall it wasn't that bad of an interview (I've had much worse). The third interview was fantastic. The general manager was an absolute sweetheart, and it turned out that he and I were listening to the same CD (Bullet for my Valentine -Scream, Aim, Fire) the day before the interview. It was all very informal, and he was very easy to talk to. He said he wanted his employees to be familiar with him in case they ever had an issue, they'd be comfortable approaching him. I felt that this was very professional and unusual to see. At the end of the interview, he said I'd be contacted soon to set up orientation. This is where I'm currently standing ----- I was contacted the day of orientation (yesterday) by another manager (female) saying that she would have to reschedule the orientation because the room that is generally used for it was apparently being used without her knowledge. That and another recent hire apparently cannot show up through the week for orientation, so to make it more convenient for her she said she was attempting to make it happen on a weekend. She asked if that was okay for me, I said that's fine. She said that if she didn't call me later that day, she'd call me tomorrow (which was today, Thursday). It's now 3 a.m. on Friday morning and no call from her. If she doesn't call me today, I'll be calling back. I'm not sure where everything is going at this point. ----- Overall, not a bad interview process. They just seem a bit disorganized.

I wasn't really able to negotiate, the general manager did that for me. He said, considering my prior experience in security, that he would offer me $8.30/hr as opposed to the average $7.25 that they start at.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 3 days)
Was contacted by a member of HR to set up a phone interview. The first phone interview was by a member of management, and went quite well. The interviewer seemed like someone I could easily work for. He said he would recommend me for the second interview, and described what he thought would be the interview process for me. The next phone interview was set up, but apparently the manager was not informed. I then phone interviewed with another member of management, who also seemed down to earth and professional. This interview also went well, and I was told to expect an onsite interview next.
Some time passed, and I sent an email to inquire. I received an email from HR saying "thanks but no thanks", or something to that effect. I then sent an email to one of the interviewers asking if this was the case, and was informed that there must be a mistake and it was quickly corrected. Later I was asked to travel five hours to the DC for an onsite interview. Not one dime was offered for travel and hotel expenses. I was interviewed by a panel of four people, the DC manager, two operations managers, and the HR manager. The interview seemed awkward. At one point while answering a question, I noticed the DC manager rolling his eyes to the others. This show of unprofessionalism made the interview downright uncomfortable. He kept insisting of getting me to answer questions that seemed above my pay grade., but I took a crack at it. At the end, the HR manager looked at me and said that she would be getting back to me with a decision by the first of the next week. Four months and an offer/acceptance with another company later, I still haven't heard anything from them. Saved me the trouble of declining.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Mesa, AZ (took 2 days)
I was applying as a cashier after getting called in for an interview I was waiting in the back of the store for 50 minutes or so, granted I was 30 minutes early. I interviewed with the manager and he decided to interview me as a sales associate. I was fine with this and then moved on to the secondary interview with the general manager the next day. The general manager essentially conducted the same interview as the first manager but asked one more question. What should happen to an employ that steals from the company. Come to find out that if you do not answer this question correctly then you are automatically disqualified so say something like they should be fired. (worked for me).

Interviewed May 2011 in Indianapolis, IN (took a day)
Initial interview questions are fairly generic. (Tell me about a time you ad to work in a team, Wat would you do if you saw an employee take a product)
For supervisory positions, more of the same, a little more involved. (How will you motivate your team to drive sales)
Initial interview feedback is quick, if they like you, you're hired and you get called right away. Other interviews take longer to find out about unless there is an immediate need, they will milk it not having to pay a supervisor.
