Interviewed Nov 2009 in Garland, TX (took 3 days)
Started with an online application and personality test. Remember that on the Unicru test, "Agree" and "Disagree" are always wrong, choose "Strongly Agree" or "Strongly Disagree". About a week later, if you pass the Unicru test, you get a brief phone interview. If that goes well, they'll call you back for a preliminary interview with a supervisor. The supervisor might refer you to another position if they see that you might be a better fit for another position. The second interview is with a manager of the department that you are applying for. After that, you have an interview with the GM where you negotiate salary and availability. Just pass the drug test, and it's off to orientation.

Interviewed Feb 2007 in Madison Heights, MI (took 2 weeks)
The interview lasted only a few minutes at the district manager level. Based on my experience you are sized up based mostly on appearance, ethnicity and ability to answer some, not very probing, questions. Overall impression is a result based employment status with very little personal development. Sink or swim type of training program. I was very successful with the company but you will need to bring a lot of experience in motivating employees and managing operations to be successful as the company is very good at telling you what needs to be done but not good at all when telling you how to get it done.

Negotiation Details
They will come across as not willing to negotiate but depending on who you talk to and how much they like you, there is definitely room to negotiate everything but health care.

I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Personality Test, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Richfield, MN (took 2 weeks)
I have completed only a portion of the interview process so far, which was a skills test. The skills test was very difficult; they don't expect anybody to finish with in the allowed time or to do very well. Next step I've been told is an in person interview sometime in the next two weeks. Apparently all positions here are contract work unless your in management.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Brooklyn, NY (took 2 days)
I applied online and a few days later I did a quick phone interview to set up a one on one interview in the evening for a few days later.
I dressed business attire, and had a copy of my resume that was requested I bring for the first interview.
I had to wait about an hour for my interview while I people watched in the store.
The interviewer was really great. He made me feel comfortable but asked me a lot of questions. He gave me a lot of time to answer them and listened to everything I said.
I was called about 15 minutes later to confirm an interview with the GM for the next day.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Rockville, MD (took 1 week)
Got a call on a Friday about my application but was unable to pick up the phone since I was in class. They told me to call them back, I did twice that same day, they finally call me the day after, Saturday and ask me a couple questions like, why bestbuy, describe yourself and such generic questions. Tell me to come in for an interview on Tuesday. Went in 5 minutes early, had to wait 15 minutes as the interviewer was in a meeting. Was a 1:1 interview which has its positives and negatives since you can be original but nobody to copy off of in case you are stuck with a hard question. Passed the interview then told to come in on a Thursday. Went in for the 2nd interview waited like 1/2 an hour got real bored since they were supposedly in meetings again, this time it was the GM of the store, asked me a couple questions on why work at bestbuy, what would you do if someone stole, your hero, a coach or teacher that really helped you. Passed that and offered me the job for $8.50 an hour now I just have to pass my drug test and I am a Best Buy employee.

Interviewed Aug 2009 (took a day)
Went to the office and we talked about the avaiable positions. I came to find out that they were not indeed looking for a full time person, but rather only part time. At that time I decided I did not want only a part time job and needed a full time job. The interview consisted of a few questions about me and my history, nothing too indepth about technology or anything else important.

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 1 week)
To meet the requirements for a job offer, one must pass an entry personality test, then, if lucky, receive a phone call to set up an initial interview. If one accepts, he will have to perform 2-3 interviews successfully to receive an offer. If he accepts the offer, he will need to complete a drug test and pass the background check.
Once your foot is in the door, getting a job is not too difficult. In-store connections or simple persistence are key to getting an interview. Average interviewees will obtain offers for cashiering, where the standout interviewees will be offered sales positions.

Interviewed Aug 2009 (took 2 weeks)
Interview was pretty easy, they asked me standard questions. I didn't like the personality test, though, I failed it the first time I took it just because I put one "Agree" instead of a "Strongly Agree".... FYI you're only supposed to put "Strongly Disagree" and "Strongly Agree" on those darned Unicru tests. They were nice enough to let me retake it but I don't understand what the point of the test is when it's so easy to fake your answers.

Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 5 days)
I applied online for merchandising and cashier at Best Buy and they called me a few days later to set up an interview. The interview was set for 2:00 and when I arrived I talked to the greeter at the door and he said the person who was supposed to interview me had to push the interview back to 3:00. I left the store and came back at that time and the greeter told me the interviewer was still in a meeting and I would have to wait a little longer and for me to just walk around the store. I think I walked every aisle of that store until 40 minutes later, the interviewer found me, so I waited nearly two hours to be interviewed. The person who did the actual interview seemed to want to just speed through it; she was nice, but she did not do much to make me comfortable. She asked about five questions about my availability, past work experiences, and times I had worked on a team or been a leader. The whole interview was no longer than ten minutes. She then told me that the next step was for her to give my interview sheet that she wrote my answers on to the GM and if he liked it he would call within 24 hours to set up a second interview. It's been about that long and I have not received a call. I don't know exactly what they were looking for because I had a similar interview today and got a job offer on the spot using similar answers. I would never apply there again because I thought they were very disrespectful to me in having me wait an hour and forty minutes for a ten minute interview. If you have that time to waste, then it might be a good job for you.
