Interviewed Nov 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 3 days)
I filled out the application online and about 3 days later I got called in for an interview. During the interview the manager asked some pretty tough questions about sales and retail. After we were finished she told me that I seemed more like customer service and asked me to fill out an application for a cashier or customer service position and she would let that interview count towards that and then I could get hired. I said ok, but then I thought about how much of a nightmare being a cashier at Best Buy would be during the holidays so I didn't go any further with the process.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 days)
I found the job opening and applied online. I was called the next day and asked if I was still interested in working with Best Buy. I said yes, so we scheduled an interview for the next day. At the interview, the interviewer asked a lot of questions about how I handled prior work situations. Knowing I didn't have job experience, she said it was fine to cite examples from school or family experiences. I thought I did fairly well, and she said she would call later that night to schedule a second interview. At this interview, I was a bit nervous and as I reflected on it later, I realized I could have done better. I had stumbled and paused a bit on a couple of questions. I had applied for a seasonal cashier position. I was told I would hear back by Monday if they were interested in hiring me, and if they hadn't called by then, they probably found someone more qualified. They did not call. This was only my second job interview ever, so it was useful to gain a bit more interview experience for future job opportunities.

Interviewed Oct 2010 (took 3 days)
I applied online for a seasonal position, and got the call the next day. I was asked a few questions on the phone about my availabilty, which department I wanted to work in, and other general questions like that. I came in for my interview about two days later, and had an interview with one of the managers. He asked general interview questions such as "What do you like and dislike about working in a team?", "If I asked one of your previous teachers or coaches about what you could improve on, what would they say?", and he also said that it's usually hard for them to justify hiring someone with no experience, such as myself, so he wanted to know why he should hire me. After the first interview I was asked back for a second interview that same day with the GM. Second interview asked a few of the same questions as the first. Also asked what department I was interested in working it. Even though I applied for a cashier position they hired me as a sales associate. The GM made the job offer that day. I've been working at Best Buy for a little over a month now and I love it. It's stressful at times but my coworkers and the managment make it fun at the same time. So far I have no complaints.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in San Pedro, CA (took 1 week)
Did not meet in a office, instead had to sit with other applicants in the middle of an aisle, while in the way of customers shopping. They did not seem organized, interviewer asked me for a pen, asked me to repeat my name twice to write it down. He checked his phone, did not seem to care what my answers were, and when I asked questions about the positions started talking all about himself. I was VERY disappointed.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Charlotte, NC (took 2 days)
After a couple weeks of trying to reach the manager by phone, scheduled an interview. Interview consisted of non-technical questions and were more based on teamwork and achievment (ex. 'What is an example of a time when a member of your team did not pull their weight and how did you handle it?').

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Houston, TX (took a day)
I applied online at bestbuy.com for cashier the second Wednesday of November in the early afternoon. I actually received a call later that evening from a lady asking me about my availability, how much I wanted to work for Best Buy, my top three departments I wanted to work in, and one situational question. And at the end I was asked to come in for an interview. The scheduled time was for 3:30 the next day, and when I arrived I had to wait around forty five minutes to have the interview with one of the main store managers, it seemed pretty hectic at the store. That interview went really well: I was asked several situational questions about how I did during certain scenarios in my previous experience. It was a really funny guy and it seemed liked he really liked what I said and the questions I asked. He said I would received a call in at most two days. On my way home I receive a call inviting me to have another interview in thirty minutes. Another forty five minute wait and this time it was a little harder. More "explain a situation when you" questions, a role playing scenario trying to convince him to buy a video game system, and "selling" myself. I wasn't sure if I did well or not, this manager was strictly business but at the end he offered me the job for Gaming specialist at $9/hr and gave me the info and drug test papers. Started orientation two days later. It all went pretty well. Very quick turnaround.

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 1+ week)
A lot of behavioral questions to gauge sales abilities and people management style/effectiveness as well as the basics, Why would you like to work for Best Buy (if your external) or Why would you like to work as a Sales Supervisor?
If internal, be ready and able to speak to the business as well as trends. Be able to speak to your plan of action and be able to explain it within a couple minutes without going through it line by line.
