Interviewed Nov 2011 in Pottstown, PA (took 1 week)
They talk to you over the phone. Then if you are still interested they schedule you for an interview. They ask a number of questions about achievement. What was your most fulfiling moment? What are you proudest of? They are very nice and professional and seemingly laid back. The office for the interview was very organized. They are very organized. There is a 3 month calendar with important dates listed on the calendar. The calendar is color coded and their are holidy drawings on the dry-erase calendar. They have another chart which lists who is scheduled to which departments. There are two computers. And the room is very neat and well organized. If you do well on the first interview then you are scheduled for a second interview. The questions seem to be behavioral questions, how did you respond to or solve a problem. The interview was vey nice. No problem. If you are hired then they immediately hand you the drug test kit and tell you that you have to go for a drug test in the next 2 days. If you pass the drug test then you are hired, I think. Once the drug test results are in then you come in to finalize paperwork and you are scheduled for training.

I entered one amount for my salary and they reduced it by 25 cents. It did not seem like a big deal. I guessed at the amount for my pay. I was not commited to the amount. If you have sales experience you can probably ask for a higher price. I don't have any advice. I was not prepared for the negotiation. I would say when you go back for you second interview be prepared to discuss negotiate your pay. It will come up out of no where.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Reno, NV (took 1 week)
I applied online one day and a few days later I got a call last Thursday. This was the phone interview. She asked me a few questions like how much do I want to work at Best Buy, what positions I want, and my availability. That was it. She then set me up for a 1:1 interview with some sort of management for the next day, which was Friday. I went in (in slacks and a nice dress shirt) and the interview lasted about 40 minutes. He asked me lots "describe to me a time when..." scenarios. Describe to me a time when you went above and beyond for someone, describe to me a time when you worked with someone you didn't get along with, etc. After all the typical interview questions, he asked me if I had any questions. ASKING A QUESTION IS GOOD. Prepare your question now, if you have none ask something you already know the answer to. It shows you have legitimate interest in the company. After he answered all my questions he shook my hand, said the interview went well, and I should be receiving another call for a third interview with the General Manager sometime next week (this week now). That call came on Wednesday of this week, from the same lady, and we set up the third interview for Friday (yesterday). I went in wearing the same slacks and nice dress shirt. This last interview was a lot more relaxed and fun. The interviewer was very laid back and was overall a nice guy. He asked me a few of the same "describe to me a time when..." but not nearly as much as last time. He then asked me about myself. He proceeded to talking about what positions he wanted me in, and how they worked (this is my first job). He then offered $9 an hour, asked me to sign some stuff, gave me the drug test, and said to expect a call scheduling training and orientation. Currently waiting on that call and the drug test results.

I asked for $7 an hour, they gave me $9 an hour, which is 75 cents higher than minimum wage in Nevada, AND this is my first job, so I thought that was very generous, and I of course accepted.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Westminster, CA (took 1+ week)
This was my first ever scheduled job interview. I applied online and it took maybe half an hour for me to complete. It took a few days for a woman to call me schedule an interview. The interview itself was based heavily on STAR based questions. "Tell me a time when..." The interviewer was a woman and was very friendly and attentive during the interview. She asked probably five questions, more or less.

Interviewed Aug 2009 (took 2 weeks)
Its a 3 process phase. The phone interview is the 1st interview, if you do good on that then they'll call you in to meet with a manager with is your 2nd interview. If that manager feels you passed his interview that he passes on your resume to General manager who decides if they'll hire you or not.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Beaumont, CA (took a day)
Uninspiring and poorly scripted interview process with HR rep, GM of store and an Operations Assistant Manager. I thought Best Buy would be in the ultra-aggressive business format mode, with an interview panel in white cotton shirts with ties, but this was not the case. I was dressed in a nice suit and tie, and they had on blue jeans and old sweaters (with heavy visible tattoos showing). During the interview process I thought everything was too informal and very laid-back, and the questions were very, "What would you do in this situation?" Quite frankly, I think they were looking for ideas and suggestion that they could employ in their own stores! I think my ideas and suggestions probably seemed too aggressive and "over the top" for them. If you are applying for a management job with Best Buy my advice would be to "dumb-it-down" a bit.
