Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Tennessee City, TN – Reviewed Jan 15, 2013
Interview Details – I got hired almost 7 years ago, and I have been promoted several times since then. I know the interview process has changed quite a bit (as I am in a position where I perform interviews now), but it's still pretty cut and dry. Questions are fairly consistent across retail for interviews, particularly for sales associates. The questions always fall back to living or not living the company values, so just know those before going into an interview. My personal interview was short and to the point. I had a lot of retail experience beforehand and they already knew my work history, so it was basically clarification and asking "Tell me about a time when ..." questions.
Interview Question – ALWAYS be prepared - for Best Buy or any other retail outlet - about a Loss Prevention question, such as "If you saw a co-worker stealing, what would you do?" Pretty easy question to answer for most people, but just be prepared. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – Not much negotiation. They basically told me a pay rate and I accepted. This is pretty standard for Best Buy to this day.
Other Details - I applied in-person and the process took 5 days.
