Interviewed Sep 2011 in Richfield, MN (took a day)
I applied online, and received a call back within an hour. The recruiter was very informative, personable, and helpful. She asked me several questions, and then offered to answer any questions I had. She gave me detailed info regarding when and how she would get back to me. She followed through the next week to let me know that I didn't get the position, but that I would be considered for several future positions.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Richfield, MN (took 6+ weeks)
Rather chaotic and disorganized. I believe they outsource their HR - scheduling interviews took multiple back-and-forth phone calls, emails, and reschedules. Interviews themselves were disorganized as well. One individual on the interview panel came in and said he only had 30 minutes instead of the 60 scheduled.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Lakeville, MN (took 3 days)
Well they ask you a series of questions about how you are with people and dealing with them in various circumstances. The Bottom line is that they are looking for someone who is a TEAM player, that's why they ask about team sports and how to deal with an upset team mate etc. They will also ask you about stealing, this is the #1 way they loose money. If they ask the question "what would you do if your employee stole from you" then you say "I would fire them" and if they ask "what would you do if you saw a fellow employee steal even if they said they'd pay later?" then you say "I would notify you right away describable. Once they see that you are reliable, you want to grow in a career, and that you are good with people and have good people skills, you're in!

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Richfield, MN (took a day)
Applied online. Received a call from a recruiter who told me I would receive a call from someone to set up an interview. Received the call from person who set up actual interview and then received an email with the interview information.
For the interview I was greeted at the main entrance and taken to the recruitment center. From there I was taken into a small interview room and we had the interview.
Following the interview I had a second meeting with an individual who then reviewed the benefits of working for Best Buy, asked me about my salary requirements and then took me on a tour of the facility.
The interview was on Wednesday. The person interviewing me stated she expected to make an offer by Friday. On Monday I was called and informed that the position had gone to an internal applicant.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Richfield, MN (took 2 months)
Had initial phone interview with HR, then it took them a while to get back to me. I came in and they said they had two jobs they were hiring for, so I would be meeting with two different teams. I had 30-45 minute interview with 4 different people. It took them a few weeks before they wrapped up their process and I received my offer

Interviewed May 2010 in Eden Prairie, MN (took a day)
I applied online, and I got a phone call just a few days later. The phone call is the first step of the interview, although I've never heard of anyone failing at that stage. During the interview I was informed that there would be one more interview before I was hired. I never got to that third interview, never heard back.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Richfield, MN (took a day)
The interview room is very nice, they are very friendly, the questions asked are fair. A lot of times the interviews are very informal while at other times they are very formal. I don't think some of the managers are very welled trained in the interview process. The questions are all that difficult.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Richfield, MN (took a day)
The interview is heavily behavioral based questioning. The interview lasted for about 45 minutes and was conducted by two members of the Best Buy corporate team. The process was to submit our resumes via our campus career center and we were then notified if Best Buy wanted to interview us. They were on-campus interviews and I was told I'd hear back within a week if they wanted to continue with a second round interview at Best Buy in Richfield. They were very friendly and easy to talk to. Made you feel very comfortable before the interview. I had a great experience.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2+ weeks)
Best Buy is a great company with very talented team. There are 2 important components of the interview - first is the technical skills. There were some in-depth questions on NPV analysis etc. But most importantly, the second component of the interview tests the interpersonal skills. How well is the candidate being able to defend his or her position. The interviewers do apply pressure tactics to check if the candidate breaks down or helds to his or her position. Given the size of the organization and the growth, BB values the second component even more than the first one
