Interviewed Oct 2010 (took 1 week)
Was hired as the result of a mass job fair to find seasonal hires for Black Friday and Christmas season; originally wanted a stock/merchandising position but ended up as a sales associate. I had been calling the store for about two weeks and was continuously told to call back later when the hiring manager was available; an associate who answered the phone one day finally let me know about an upcoming job fair that I could come to instead. Arrived, had to confirm that I had already applied online, and sat around for 3 to 4 hours before someone spoke with me. They then sent me on my way and said someone would call me the next day. After not hearing from them I called them back and got an interview with the head of stocking and merchandising. A day or two later the store called me and said I could move on to the next phase of the application process, and thus I interviewed with the general manager, who admitted he did not see me as a stocking associate. I said I had some experience with computers and was then hired as a computer sales associate. Wasn't brought in for my first paid day (orientation) until three weeks later after being told I'd only have to wait two weeks.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Culver City, CA (took 3 weeks)
The tests are given at the same time you are signing up for the job. If you pass the test, they (Best Buy) will give you a call. The phone interview was just some random questions; really easy. There was three interviews; each one was harder then the next. (1st was group, 2nd supervisor & 3rd was the general manger) The whole time I was smiling and pretending to be confident & after weeks of thinking I've failed; I received the job. Please please PLEASE do not use your cell phone at any time while waiting for your interview. (The drug tests comes after they offer you the job)

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Seattle, WA (took 2 days)
It start out as an online application where they have a series of questions regarding personality as well as intelligence. I pass that (according to the phone interview). Then a phone interview that woke me up which I also passed. She scheduled me for a 1:1 interview the next day at 3:00 PM I was 15 minutes early, and the manager had his free time so we started around 2:50PM and the interview lasted for a good 30 or so minutes. Aside from that though, I handed him my resume which he LITERALLY set aside and didn't even bother looking at it and just went on with the interview. I've never held a job, and he was asking me about dealing with customers with "bad manners" and how I cope with it. I relate that with my school/volunteer experience however so it was all good. The bad thing is that the interviewer was a little rude. He had several phone calls that he answered as well as text messages. Like the most tips people give to "give him a nice eye contact" made no sense at all since he couldn't even give ME an eye contact! his eyes was literally everywhere. At the end I ask if when they would give me a call back and they said that around 2-3 days which, in my opinion, a good GET THE HELL OUT OF MY OFFICE.

Interviewed Jun 2009 in Tucson, AZ (took a day)
A guy in my graduate program referred me. His manage called me in for an interview. I arrived 15 minutes early, only to wait for close to an hour for the manager to actually deign to appear and speak with me. The personality test was a trip - it was both transparent and hilarious. It might as well have just come out and asked, "If offered a job, will you steal from us and molest your employees?" The interview itself took about 15 minutes and was exceedingly easy. Best Buy hires sales associates to breathe, clean the store, and take up space on the sales floor, so the interview questions did not gauge any actual skill or competency.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took a day)
they keep you waiting for about 2 hours to make sure you are dedicated to the company. i finally met with someone and it went really fast. The GM asked me about 15 different questions that were easy to answer and then i was offered a job. The training is kind of annoying but will probably be a fun place to work.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Northridge, CA (took a day)
Received a call for an interview about an hour after completing my application (seriously, no joke). went in the following day for my 1:1 interview. i originally applied for a cashier position but after speaking to my interviewer (hiring coordinator), he thought i would make a great addition to the Media department. then he introduced me to the General Mangier who continued my interview. he was a bit intimidating at first but nothing too scary. he began explaining what the position entailed and informed me what was expected of me on the job. i had no prior sales experience but my knowledge of media and video games seemed to be enough. i was also told to take a drug test with in 48 hours.
