Interviewed Jan 2010 (took 2 weeks)
What was supposed to be an hour interview turned into almost a 3 hour interview, but good conversation, good questions. They have to go through a lot of interviewees sometimes, and that can take a while trying to coordinate everyone's schedules. Its hard to get a supervisor position if you do not work within the company, which is a great thing for current employees! It's all about performance at Best Buy, so just be able to show how you can increase sales (and have in the past) and you are golden. Its also a lot harder to get a job in another location because often times its your day-to-day activities which become your actual interview. There are not a lot of positions available usually, but Best Buy does a good job of promoting those who deserve it - just be able to articulate that! Show you are a team player who can motivate the team while driving financial results, and have a holiday plan starting in June or July!

Interviewed Feb 2011 (took a day)
I went into the interview fully prepared. Through the interview process, the panel looked as though they were interested in what I had to say but at the same time looked disengaged due to the favoritism of knowing who they already wanted for the role

Interviewed Jun 2008 in West Palm Beach, FL (took 2 days)
Had a recommendation. Went in and interviewed with one manager. Asked specific questions about what kind of improvements I had made in my current position at my current job at that time. Was offered the job and an hourly rate that they said I must keep confidential because it was more than the other supervisors were making.

Reason for Declining
They offered more money then my current job but the atmosphere did not seem as fun or like there was as much opportunity for advancement.

Interviewed May 2008 (took a day)
Already had the associate in mind that they were hiring. Got the interview on the back end of the process. Was the top candidate until the other associate from different location applied. Was not told why I didn't get the job. Very unprofessional experience and have been with the company too long to be treated in such a manner. Make sure to make friends and buddies with managers and supervisors. Your performance and quality of work does not matter to most. At least at my location. I have heard some positive experiences from other stores though so this is based solely on the experience at my location. Seems to be changes coming around the corner though.
