Interviewed Dec 2010 in San Jose, CA (took 6 months)
What recommended by a recruiter. Had intial phone interview and then a 1:1 with present boss. Months passed between intial interview and follow up phone conversation and then renewed interviews about 5 months later. Once through those rounds of interviews went through a process of negotiations.

Atypically long, but this was probably just a fluke more than the rule.

I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.
