Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
I submitted my resume through my university's career website. There was a 1:1 on campus interview that was fairly straight forward. I was asked to explain how I decided what to major in and why I wanted to be a fashion buy or planner. Most of the questions were situation based, but fairly simple. Be sure to appear incredibly enthusiastic about the job. Prior week experience in retail or customer service is helpful.
The on site section consisted of 4 one on one interviews. There was a detailed presentation before the interview about the different positions.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The salary was not very high for this position. Bon Ton is also a relatively small company and there aren't many opportunities to work outside of Milwaukee.
Other Details
I got the interview through a College or University and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 1 week)
The hiring process was very professional. I filled out an application online and received a call the same day. I was asked to come in for a one on one interview with a dept. manager. The interview consisted of normal questions (tell me about yourself) and behavioral questions and lasted about an hour. I was called by HR the next day to set up a second interview with the store manager. The interview with the store manager was a little less than two hours long. Both interviews were very enjoyable. The managers seem very knowledgeable and passionate about their work, while also maintaining work-life balances.
Advice to interview candidates: Have examples from past life experiences (work, church, school, etc) ready for any behavioral q's. Be yourself!! The interview is not difficult as long as your prepare properly!!

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took a day)
Received interview invitation from on campus recruiting. Went to the pre-night and asked some questions, but not really important.
The interview was pretty casual, typical behavioral questions.
Asked about what you see yourself in 5 years, what the most desired workplace would be like, and also asked to rank bon-ton store from 1-10 10 being the highest.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Dubuque, IA (took 2 days)
I applied online and filled out an extensive personality survey. My interview was straight forward and did not make me nervous. My first interview was with the assistant store manager, then again with the immediate supervisor. The people working there were very helpful and pleasant.

Interviewed Oct 2010 (took 3 days)
I got in contact with Bon-Ton through my school's career fair. The first step is a 30 minute on campus interview with a few behavioral questions and questions about past working experiences: Ex: Describe a time when you did not work well with a group? Describe a time when you did not agree with a group's decision and what did you do? I noticed this phase did not really focus on seeing whether you have a passion for the retail industry or not (but once you get to the on-site interview this becomes a focus).
The on-site interview consists of a mixer the night before interviews. Interview day consists of a meeting with HR and a presentation from a Planner and a buyer (this is a good chance to ask in-depth questions and get a sense of how satisfied they are about their jobs). There are 3 1:1 interviews back to back (keep your energy up) that ask behavioral questions, past work experience scenarios, and a few misc. questions (Ex: What is one thing that you regret you didn't do in college). While these may be "easy" questions, I suggest you answer questions ofcourse, honestly, but also strategically, fitting the profile of the job you want.
People are generally nice, a good mix of young and older, and employees stress that there is not a lot of politics.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took a day)
I applied online, a week or two later was called to schedule an interview(this was for a seasonal position). I went for the interview and was asked 1 question, "tell me about yourself", after that the Human Resource Rep explained the in's & out's of the job,(seasonal, amount of hours can expect to work, etc), after that I was asked to come in the following week to fill out paperwork, and take 3 common sense tests that you have to get an 80% on each one before you can start training. Once you pass you will go back in for a three hour paid training session, then you start the job.
