Intern at Booz Allen Hamilton

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in McLean, VA Jan 2011 – Reviewed Feb 23, 2013

Interview Details – Applied online in November for a summer internship, received e-mail to set up phone screening in mid January. After initial phone screening I setup another interview with 2 different people. Each interview lasted about 30 minutes and was comprised of a technical interviewer and a behavioral interviewer. Everything was done over the phone. About a week later I received an offer.

Interview Question – Technical questions weren't very difficult. Mostly comprised of what I knew about computer programming languages. There was one behavioral question that caught me off guard. It was "Recall a situation in which you faced a difficult challenge and how you overcame it."   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – As an intern I didn't have much room to negotiate.

Interview Details – Hiring and Interview process varies from location and from manager. Main purpose of interview is to find out if you are a "good fit" for the company. In my opinion, year of experience and performance is not taken into account.

Negotiation Details – Negotiation was limited. HR or recruited told me that i will be promoted in a year to the next level given my experience. This never happened.

Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in McLean, VA May 2010 – Reviewed Feb 22, 2013

Interview Details – Use your networks to find someone inside the company to champion your resume for a position that you can find on the web. After that, keep the communication going with the recruiter. They get pretty busy and sometimes lose touch.

Interview Question – For software and database developers, you may be asked to answer a specific coding question. I had to write a SQL statement that did an outer join with a simple filter.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – They had a lot of applicants, so I wasn't able to negotiate much.

Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in McLean, VA – Reviewed Feb 21, 2013

Interview Details – I went to one of their recruitment events for college students. They split the pool of students into groups and gave them a chance to talk to current employees who have started working there in the past year (or two). The actual interview process was round robin style and was described as mainly being a behavioral interview. I was interviewed by two people the first round and then by one person the second round. In the second round, I was asked some technical questions that were not too bad, but was unexpected. A week later, I received a phone call saying that one of my interviewers is interested in offering me a job and that I would be receiving an offer letter in a week. The email for the offer letter was not sent to me in a week, so I emailed them back about and they sent it to me in a couple of days.

Interview Question – I was asked some basic questions about computer networking. For me at that point, it was about memorization and regurgitation.   Answer Question
