Interviewed Jun 2009 in McLean, VA (took a day)
Had a phone interview with a HR rep after referred by employee. A hiring manager expressed interest in me. Somehow, I was then passed off to some HR screener. Interview felt more like an inquisition in terms of the questions I was being asked. I felt like I was being screened out based on certain criteria. Then the infamous behavioral based questions, which anyone can make up stories. Interview ended with "With what other firms are your interviewing?" Feedback had to be requested a week later. Response was "No matches at this time....please get back to us within a month." I asked to the effect, what exactly does that mean? Never got a response.

Interviewed Jan 2007 (took a day)
Applied online. It took a long time before they got back to me (several weeks).
I had already gone deep into the interview process with other companies.
They eventually contacted me.
They quickly set up an in house interview.
There I had one on one interviews with several technical folk.
The questions weren't that difficult.
The next week I received an offer from them.

Interviewed May 2009 in Charleston, SC (took a day)
I thought the interview was more about can you fit into the Booz team. The job I applied for expressed teamwork in workplace. They ask questions about my capabilities, leadership, and personality. I knew I had the capabilities for the job with my military background, so I focused more on the personality piece. It paid off.

Interviewed May 2009 in Washington, DC (took 3 weeks)
The initial phone interview with a Booz recruiter lasted about 10 minutes where I was asked very general questions about what I do at my current job and expected salary. My face-to-face interview was a couple of weeks later where I met with 5 or 6 individuals for about 30 minutes each lasting about 3 hours. The interview wasn't too difficult. However, be prepared to work around the interviewers schedules. One individual was located off-site and had to interview by phone, another was caught up in a meeting and came late, and there was a period of about 20 minutes where I was left by myself waiting for the next interviewer to show up. Everyone was very nice and honest though and answered all questions.

Interviewed May 2009 in McLean, VA (took 2 weeks)
The process was pretty painless - especially for a company as large as Booz. I got a call from a recruiter and had a conversation of about 45 minutes. Just the initial screening stuff to make sure I was interested and met the basic criteria. I then had to take a writing test (1 hour limit) and fill out the Booz Application online. Had an in-person interview about a week later at Booz in McLean. This was a long (a little over 3 hours) but enjoyable experience. They call it the "speed dating" model of interviewing. They bring in a group of candidates and put you at different tables in the same large room. You interview with 3 different people for about 30 minutes each. Each person is focused on a different subject (leadership, skill set, etc.). After the interviews are over, there is a 30 minute (about) social with the interviewers you didn't get to talk to and the other candidates. Booz tells you that you will get a decision a week later - mine took a couple of days longer.

Interviewed Feb 2008 (took 8 weeks)
Applied online, contacted by multiple recruiters across the firm - one in DC area and another in the Colorado Springs area. I contacted my local recruiter in the Colorado Springs area to see if I could get a position in Huntsville, AL. The recruiter indicated they had an "Invitational" at the Booz Allen office which is code for a quasi-networking interview where a potential new hire meets and greets with a bunch of hiring managers. Initially I talked with three hiring managers in Colorado Springs to see if I was a fit for a job there (I wasn't really given my background and interests). I indicated my preference to get involved in a specific domain, and they referred me to a hiring manager in Huntsville, AL. Two weeks later, I informally interviewed with the manager in Huntsville and was told that I would be hired it was just a matter of which client I would support. I was told they would "socialize" my resume amongst their client management to see which client was most interested. About a month later, the recruiter in Colorado Springs called back and told me an offer was forthcoming but required a Partner's signature (all Booz Allen offers require this). That was the long pole in the tent... I think we waited around for 2-3 weeks waiting for the Partner to get back to the office to sign the offer letter.

Negotiation Details
I rejected the initial offer after discovering that the relocation budget was so low for the Senior Consultant level. Lockheed Martin was offering to pay for everything related to the move as well as per diem while my wife and I were in temporary housing. I told the recruiter I was going to sign on with Lockheed Martin, and he jumped through all sorts of hoops to get a second offer out to me with an expanded relocation package. This second offer was for a much higher salary and at the Associate level. This became key because I found out that promotions at BAH are very hard to come by. If I were to do it all over again, I would have insisted on interviewing for an Associate level position and upped my salary requirements.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in McLean, VA (took 2 weeks)
I was initially contacted by a recruiter who had seen my resume on the BAH website and on monster.com. He emailed me and asked if I would be interested in a senior consulting position focusing on business process re-engineer work, change management, or knowledge management. I sent him my reply along with my resume. I was then asked if I could set up a phone interview, which I did for the following day. I interviewed over the phone with the recruiter and was asked indepth questions about my career, experiences, and education. It took about 45 minutes. The next day I was contacted by a second recruiter who performed a follow-up phone interview and then scheduled a date for me to meet in-person with various Booz Allen Hamilton employees. I scheduled my date and and was told about the in-person interview process. I was e-mailed an application to fill out and given a schedule for the interview. When I arrived, about 8 of us were led into a room where the second HR recruiter filled us in on the benefits and structure of the company, and answered any questions we had regarding working for Booz Allen. We also met with a Senior Associate who gave an overview of the Organization & Strategy team, which was the specific team we were interviewing for. We were then led into individual interview rooms where we met individually with various BAH employees who were on the O&S team. One interview focused on consulting experience, one on technical skills and one on overall fit. Once the interviews were over we all reconvened as a group and were led out. They told us to expect phone calls within the next week. About one week later, I received a call stating that I did very well and that they thought I would be a good consultant at Booz Allen, but that the work in the pipeline didn't fit my skills at the moment and to apply again a couple of months. I followed up with a senior associate I interviewed with, and he told me the same thing - that they were impressed with me and my resume, but that the work didn't fill the skills and that things were changing constantly and to apply again in a few months.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in San Diego, CA (took 1 week)
Only have a few other interviews as comparison I would have to say that the process was of norm and highly professional.
Initially I applied only via their website and was contact within 2 weeks of posting. I had an initial phone interview with a Booz Allen recruiter who gave me information on the position and expectations from the team. After a short 20-30 min discussion the recruiter asked if I would be interested in interviewing with the team as she felt that I was a fit for the position.
About 1 week later I was contacted by a team member of the team I was to join and we had about a 45-60 min phone interview concerning my skills, background, education, certifications, etc... then we discussed in detail the duties of the position. He quickly realized I would be a fit for the team and the position and began to feed me the firm kool-aid, which was fine and I quickly bought it, however, I was still skeptical on whether the position was right for me.
After about another week, I was notified that they wanted to have a formal interview. I was interview in person by 5 different people from the team and HR, from team member, to lead, to manager. First interview focused on consulting skills, second and third on technical background, fourth was with HR, and the final interview was with the program manager. Each lasted about 30 min and were very professional.
I definitely felt that the interview process went great and that I would soon hear from the recruiter. After the formal interview, it took about 1 week for me to receive an offer with a start date within 2-3 weeks.

Reason for Declining
I had to decline for a number of reasons, however, the most important reasons were job security and seniority which I have built here with my current company. It was definitely a hard decision to make, one which I feel should be easy if the opportunity is great.
Booz Allen would definitely be a great company to join, however, I feel that for a minimal salary increase and almost lateral transition in title/position that it was a wash and not worth starting over.
From the 12% increase I was asking, they came back with a 4% which is less then I received on my annual staying with my current company.
