Principal Interview

Principal
Chicago, IL

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Boston Consulting Group in March 2009.

Interview Details – Seems like for Boston Consulting is enlisting the help of executive recruiters for their top talent - though an appropriate strategy given the level, they may wish to be more selective in their talent procurement strategies.
After numerous voicemails and emails exchanged over two weeks, finally was able to get a '15 min' time slot to understand the expectations. Waited for a call... waited - ten minutes into the said '15 mins', got a call with an apologetic assistant requesting that I follow up with an email to request an alternate time. Understanding that things can change, fired off an email requesting possible reschedule week thereafter... no response to date.

Interview Question – (over email) How do you feel you can further xxxx's (practice area) reach in the Middle East?   Answer Question

Interview Details – Interviews at BCG are mostly case study based. Lateral hires can also expect one or two interviews with senior partners that are more geared toward assessing fit with the company and its culture. Case studies are classic business problem case studies, i.e., no puzzles or brain teasers. Candidates should expect four to five rounds of interviews. Decisions are typically made and communicated within a week or two of the final interview.

Interview Question – Candidates familiar with case study interviews should find the overall process similar to that at other leading management consultancies.   Answer Question
