Project Manager Interview

Project Manager
Boston, MA

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 4 months - interviewed at Brown Brothers Harriman in April 2011.

Interview Details – A very long process involving in-person interviews from several people from various locations. Instead of leveraging technologies to move the process along, there were weeks of delays while trying to align all the people's schedules for several in person interviews.

Interview Question – Why should we hire you? This can always be a difficult question when the person doesn't understand the role you need to perform. You have to not only tell him the value you bring but also explain why this is important to him.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – The job offer was exceptional and knowing you always want to ask for something more, I struggled with it because they gave me everything I wanted. I decided to ask for a better title and justified it because I was effectively taking on a function that was being split off from someone who had the higher title. It worked and I not only got a higher title but an extra week of vacation.

Operations Specialist Interview

Operations Specialist
Boston, MA

I applied through a staffing agency and interviewed at Brown Brothers Harriman.

Interview Details – Heard of the job through a staffing agency. Standard interview -- overall impressions of professionalism count for a lot. Being on point, showing that you are someone with good time management and an excellent ability to execute tasks counts for a lot. The position is basically assimilating and carrying out the same set of tasks every day. The challenges therefore are not variable, however you need an excellent attention to detail and an ability to get your work done in a very time efficient manner.
Demonstrating that you're a fast learner (so as so quickly adopt the methodology) and have a rigorous work ethic will help get the job.

Interview Question – No unexpected questions.... describe project management skills, what your weaknesses are, when have you had experience working in a team etc.   Answer Question
