Very Easy Interview
I applied through an employee referral and the process took a day - interviewed at Brown Mackie College in September 2013.
Interview Details – Contacted through other college, set up interview by phone after emailing resume and cover letter (usually they will post through Monster). Created demo presentation for all Department Heads (they fill out a review sheet), met with relevant Department Head to discuss presentation, position, and particulars. Later called and offered position.
Interview Question – This was more of a discussion- I don't think she actually asked me any questions. However, EDMC (head company of numerous career colleges) usually asks about education style and classroom management. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No pay rate negotiation is available however you can usually negotiate work days and hours, courses, number of courses, and tutoring depending on the workload you'd like. They will also recontact in the event that you take a hiatus- very understanding and flexible with workloads.
The process took 5 days - interviewed at Brown Mackie College in February 2012.
Interview Details – As expected. Why work for this company? Why interested in education? Interviewed and offered job on same day. Was required to do short presentation of teaching skills.
The process took 3 days - interviewed at Brown Mackie College in May 2011.
Interview Details – I submitted my resume online for an adjunct position at Brown Mackie College. I heard nothing for two months. However, when I was contacted, the process then went quite quickly and smoothly. I had a phone interview with the department chair, who covered the basic duties of the position and explained the interviewing process. I emailed her an updated copy of my resume, along with a list of references. She then contacted my references (I know, because I got feedback from one of them). Two days after my phone contact, I presented a 15-minute demonstration lesson for a panel. After the presentation, they gave me feedback and asked questions about my knowledge relating to adult learners and how I would likely handle certain scenarios in the classroom. I was told that they would contact me within 2 days to let me know whether or not I got the job. They kept their word, and I was offered the job two days later.
Interview Question – A student comes into your classroom 20 minutes late, interrupting your lecture. He jokes around with the other students, some of whom are annoyed with his behavior. How do you handle the situation? Answer Question
