Sales Associate/Cashier at Burlington Coat Factory

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Middleburg Heights, OH Jun 2013 – Reviewed Jun 11, 2013 New

Interview Details – I received the call to come in for an interview about two days after filling out the application online. The actual interview lasted ten minutes - at most. The first couple of minutes were about my availability; he told me he was looking for somebody that was available indefinitely on book weekdays and weekends. Then, he read off a list of about 6-8 questions of the "Tell me about a time when..." format. He listened pretty carefully to my answers and responded to me before taking a minute to write them down. Sometimes, he would read the question and say something like "well, you kind of covered that situation in your other answer...", so he would just skip it. At the end of the list of questions, he told me that he would like to offer me a position, but I had to authorize a background check and it had to come back clear first. He sent me the email that afternoon, and hired me the very next day.

Interview Question – They were pretty straight forward questions. "Tell me about a time you made a mistake with a customer, and how you handled it." type of question.   Answer Question

Merchandise Team Leader at Burlington Coat Factory

No Offer – Interviewed in Marlton, NJ May 2013 – Reviewed Jun 5, 2013 New

Interview Details – After I sent my Resume I received a phone call from a recruiter who gave me a phone interview and seemed very interested in me. She set me up for an appointment two weeks later with a manager in one of the stores. I attended that interview which included the normal questions. The manager seemed to like me also and told me it would be another two weeks (because they were so busy) until she would be able to review my application with another manager. I was told that I would be contacted by one of the two people I had spoken to. I waited the specified time and when I was not contacted I sent a polite reminder email to the recruiter and she never responded to me. Aside from the long wait I found the process to be easy and everyone I spoke to was friendly and professional. It seemed there was a good culture in the store and the company was striving to be even better and it was my top choice among other companies I applied to but after being led on for a month long process only to be snubbed in the end left me disheartened.

Interview Question – I was asked to name other businesses that would compare to BCF.   Answer Question

Merchandise Manager at Burlington Coat Factory

No Offer – Reviewed Apr 18, 2013

Interview Details – I was very disappointed with the interview process at Burlington. I had received an e-mail in regards to scheduling a phone interview. I responded with answering the questions of when I was available to interview and provided a phone number, and did not receive any further communication. A week later I received a very unexpected call from the recruiter to interview me. I wasn't near my phone and missed her call. I immediately called her back, as well as sent a follow up e-mail. She responded to my e-mail apologizing for the miscommunication, and set up an interview for the next day. I confirmed the scheduled time, and she e-mailed back that she looked forward to our call. I never heard from the recruiter. Overall very unprofessional.
