First interview with one engineering manager, about half an hour. Pretty basic - talked about classes, senior project, then asked about the company. Second interview essentially the same, asked me about cad experience, also asked for 2 letters of recommendation. Got an offer a week or so after.

Got a first round interview through my Universities career website. The first round interview was very casual, talked about hobbies and such.
Flew out to California about a month later. Arrived on a Thursday night and C&D had reserved a rental car for me, so I drove with a couple other candidates to the hotel. Nice hotel, my room had a kitchen in it. On Friday we had multiple interviews which were pretty casual, went over my resume and the interviewers described what they did. These interviews were held while walking around the plant. Had lunch and a company presentation.
All the candidates left the building around 3p and had some time to kill before dinner in SLO. A bunch of us drove up to the beach and hung out. Had dinner that night with all the candidates and about 8 or so employees. After dinner we went to the bar where C&D opened a tab and we could order anything.
Heard back from C&D about a week later.

Salary was way below other offers (52k) and California in an expensive place to live.

The interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Applied only, asked for interview a couple weeks later. Came in and went to a conference room and spoke with the lead stress engineer. He explained the position and talked about the company. Asked questions about my resume, experience, senior design project.
No technical questions or skills tests.

Applied through my school's career site. Interviewed with one of the managers on campus for first round interview. Very straight forward interview, basically talk about your resume.
A few weeks later, they flew me out to their facility in Santa Maria, CA. Very friendly and accommodating people. I was expecting back-to-back interviews with several managers & HR, but only met with one other engineering manager instead. I was asked basically the same question as in the first round, very straight forward and simple. The company seems very relax and casual. People wearing jeans & polo + sneakers to work is very common on weekdays too. They took the candidates out for dinner in downtown San Luis Obispo and then some drinks afterwards.

Reason for Declining
Salary is blatantly below average, $10k+ below my school's average. Location is another problem since Santa Maria is in the middle of no where and San Luis Obispo is pretty dead for me, but would be ideal for people with family & who are ready to settle down.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Santa Maria, CA (took 4 weeks)
Met with a recruiter for one on one in February and was asked to fly out to California for Spring Break. There were six candidates and I believe at least one did not get the offer. Everyone was very friendly. It is a growing company and I would urge anyone interested to strongly consider an offer. I received the offer a couple days after the interview.

I was referred to the company via on online recruiter. I had a contact at the company, but I do not think he had any influence. I was contacted by an HR person who setup an interview with the engineering manager. I was asked to go over my experience, and it wa a very open interview. He asked what my least favorite engineering course was. I also was asked about how many hours of CAD and solid modelling I had conducted. He then proceeded to give a tour of the facility and introduced me to some of the employees.

I found that many of the engineers there were a little overworked, and the fact that I would be just working on a couputer all day drafting part drawings seemed unattractive.

After the initial phone interview, I was called into the facility. I went and met the hiring manager. I was asked about the details about my last job, my experience and education. I was given a tour and an opportunity to ask questions and then was offered the position by email.

The initial salary offered was well below my expectations. I was able to negotiate a slightly higher salary, but I was lured in with the typical bonus incentive and potential for growth carrots.

I was asked about my skills and experience, about my senior project, and my thesis, being that I was a recent graduate. The engineering manager also asked me about my technical interests within the field of mechanical engineering. I then was given a tour of the facility and an overview of what the company makes and how they do things.
There were no technical questions or skill tests to determine how knowlegable I actually was in the field though, which I thought was a little bit odd.
