Interviewed Apr 2012 in Chicago, IL (took 3 days)
I applied through their website after seeing the job posting on my University job board. I was called for a phone interview the next day. The phone interview lasted 1 hour. At the end of the call I was asked to come in asap to meet with the person who would be my manager. I then met with the manager who I really really liked.
The HR person came back to go over the benefits package. Since it wasn't my first offer I asked for time to consider the offer. I was told that I could take a week but the start date would be 10 days out because they have a 6 week training period where they train groups all at once. During our phone interview he had mentioned another start date that would have been more than a month away but that was no longer on the table. I think that maybe the later start date would have been under another manager and that's why it wasn't part of what was available anymore.
The cubicles are really big. There are lots of prizes and free food but the pay for the first two years is the worst. I was also told that to get close to 6 figures in year 4 it would require working 10 to 12 hour days for the first year.

Interviewed Mar 2012 (took 2 days)
I learned about the job through a career fair at my university. I applied for the job online which consisted of an application and then a basic online assessment. A few weeks later I heard back that they wanted to schedule a phone interview. This lasted for about 30 minutes and was the most impersonal, rushed conversation I've ever had. It included only behavioral questions and it seemed like the recruiter did not even care about my answers. After she asked me a question and I responded she would not even say anything and then just ask another question. It was a complete waste of my time.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Chicago, IL (took 2 weeks)
Initially applied online through the CDW website and heard back almost immediately from a recruiter. The recruiter scheduled a time for a phone interview and that went well. I was offered a chance to come in for a one on one at the end of the phone interview. Throughout the whole process the recruiter was very knowledgeable and encouraging. He/She made sure I was comfortable an allowed me to mention any other things that CDW should know about myself before moving into the one on one. On the day of the one on one I came in and met the recruiter on location. Then introduced me to the Sales Manager I would be working for. He/She seemed nice however had an agenda and seemed genuinely disinterested. I've talked to numerous people at the company and they mention how they love to hire college grads with little to no experience (myself). Not the case for the Sales Manager, a bombardment of behavioral questions, which was expected, but absolutely zero chance for me to elaborate on information I may not have mentioned. The interview ended with the manager leaving the room and the recruiter coming back in. I heard back the other day that I did not get the job.
Overall it was an okay experience, I've had tougher interviews, but never interviewed with someone who didn't really give me a chance. Very friendly environment with the exception of the Sales Manager. Also, if you don't get the offer immediately after the 1-1, or a few hours after...you didn't get the job. In the end it worked out, the base pay is pretty awful for Chicago, especially to be making 80 cold calls a day.

Had initial interview with recruiter for about 30 minutes. He asked general questions about resume and why you are a good fit for sales. Then you have a 1:1 interview with your manager and he asked a lot more specific questions about sales experience. Was offered the job after the interview

Interviewed Apr 2010 (took 1 week)
Pretty easy interview. They are lookiing to hire a bunch of recent graduates, so experience is not necessary. They just want to get a feel for your personality, and from there it really all depends on which manager you are interviewing with whether or not you get the position. I have seen some very qualified people get turned down, and very unqualified people obtain the position.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took a day)
I heard about CDW through a college job fair. After speaking with a representative of the company, I submitted my resume for review. Two weeks later, I was contacted by CDW's HR department to set up a designated time for a phone interview. When the phone interview took place, I was asked basic questions about my education, work experience, sales experience, what motiviates me, and my career goals. As the interview ended, I was told I would hear back within 2-3 days whether I would be asked to come in for a 1:1 interview or not. Unfortunately, I received an e-mail stating I do not meet the qualifications as other candidates had. If you really want to pass the phone interview, elaborate on your past sales experience, your high competitiveness, and your desire to succeed in a sales position.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took 1+ week)
The process is extremely quick, so be ready to make a decision before you event apply for the job. The company is doing very well and therefore will be aggressively hiring, so they might even find you before you find them, as some of the people in my round experienced. The recruiters are very helpful, making this a very enjoyable and highly-efficient process that's easily navigated. Go prepared, because the sales managers are not shy to ask tough situational questions if they think you are on the edge or have high potential to really test out your limits.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Chicago, IL (took 2 weeks)
I was referred by a former colleague of mine who is currently an account manager at CDW. Within a day of his using an internal system to enter my name, I was a emailed a personality test. It contained behavioral questions and other screening assessments. After that, someone from HR called to schedule a phone interview a couple days out. That was fairly relaxed and consisted of questions like: "why technology sales", "why CDW", "why would you be good at this job", etc. You would want to have prepared some examples of sales experiences where you persuaded someone or resolved a conflict or overcame an objection. Within a day or two, I got a call to schedule a 1:1 interview with the manager whose team I'd be working on. That was more of the same behavioral in addition to situational questions. He definitely had a scripted agenda, and there were quite a few situational questions like: "what is your biggest accomplishment", "what is something you've struggled with", "talk about a time when you took initiative", "describe a time you resolved a conflict", "describe a time you went above and beyond for a customer". You also want to have prepared 6-10 questions about the job and the company that show you've done your homework and you know the job you're interviewing for.

Reason for Declining
Good downtown Chicago location. There's something like 1,000+ account managers at the headquarters. Office is pretty standard cube-land set up around the manager and his/her sales team. Seems like wide variety of 20 and 30 something employees. Management seems serious about sales numbers but are probably cool if you're performing. Some cool perks like free laptops or ipads as sales incentives from tech companies. There's probably an opportunity to eventually make substantially more than the $25K (non-neg) base, but the manager said expect to make that much your first year. I declined b/c of the low starting pay, and I didn't really want to work my way up the ladder in a call center environment.
