They tried to get me to sign an offer and when i told them I wasn't ready they said they would only give me 24hrs. I felt too pressured.

I applied online and got called by a recruiter three days later. I had a phone interview with the recruiter an hour after he initially called me. We set up for an inperson interview with a sales account mananger. The Interviewer had an attitude. He felt that the recruiters did not understand the job of a sales account manager. He did not like anyone who did not have any sales experience.

CDW called me after I filled out an application online for the Account Manager position. They needed me to fill out more information online, and then they scheduled me for a phone interview. I had the phone interview today 3/15/10 and it was an ok interview she described the position in detail and went over some other aspects of the company and then asked if I had any questions. She told me about average day of an account manager. Then she told me I would have to fill out another form online and that she would contact me after she recieved the rest of my information. Ill keep you updated. Also The base pay in 25k even though I have a Bachelors Degree. But she did mention that because I have it I will be able to move to management.

There was a phone interview with an HR manager. Then they brought me in for a face to face interview with the HR Manager and the Sales Manager for the SMB sales group. The interview was an enjoyable process, the company is well known and supposedly one of the top companies to work for. However their offer was way to low. Their base salary was $35K plus commission. When I asked for a commission schedule and an idea of what the average commissions a sales rep would make in their first year, HR wouldn't provide me with that. I had over 3 years of inside sales experience with another IT VAR, but all sales organizations are different, so I needed to see what types of commissions I could count on. When they made me an offer, I had to decline it, because they refused to tell me a key piece of information. Now I am with another VAR making over 100K per year.

I had over 3 years of experience and a book of clients that I could call on. They weren't willing to pay for experience and didn't want to give me all of the information necessary to make a good decision.
They wanted a body not an experienced IT sales rep.

The entire process took about two weeks. I posted my resume online, went through a number of questions, and then was contacted by a recruiter. After that, more questions online, phone interview, more online questions, and interview. Offered the job on the spot, and started three days later.

No negotiations are possible. I tried to, but they said everyone starts at the same salary and ends that way. Your increased pay is all commission.

All of the people I interviewed with at CDW were very professional,& accomodating. The first interview was on the phone with an HR representative, & then I had a face to face interveiw with the hireing manager. I was surprised the HR representative gave me the salary range over the phone

The salary & bonus offered did not increase my income enough make up for the loss of benefits (stock options, pension, vaca, longer communte) to justify leaving my current position. No second offer was made after I told them this.
