Programmer Analyst at CGI Group

No Offer – Interviewed in Raleigh, NC Mar 2012 – Reviewed Mar 19, 2012

Interview Details – I applied online and had three phone interviews. Two were HR type interviews and a third phone interview was technical. They brought me in for three one on one interviews. Two of the interviews were done by technical leads, and a third interview was done by the functional lead. It was a pleasant experience, and it looked like an excellent place to work.

Interview Question – Describe your programming experience.   Answer Question

Junior IT Consultant at CGI Group

No Offer – Interviewed in Lebanon, VA Nov 2011 – Reviewed Jan 27, 2012

Interview Details – They had a group presentation with a basic overview of the company. This followed with a Q & A with three younger employees who all had good things to say about the company. The flexible hours seem to be pretty hyped up. Hotel/Travel is paid for. Interview process consist of three separate interviews: a leadership, technical, and analytical. I was pretty impressed with everything in general other than the geographic location of the office. Other than that this seems like it would be a great company to start of at for an IT Consultant.

Interview Question – Describe how you would settle a dispute between two employees you supervised.   Answer Question

Entry-Level IT Consultant at CGI Group

No Offer – Interviewed in Los Angeles, CA Oct 2011 – Reviewed Dec 26, 2011

Interview Details – This was a one-on-one interview with a college recruiter. It lasted about 30 minutes and no difficult behavioural nor technical questions were asked. The recruiter began by describing the position I applied for, followed by a brief conversation about a previous internship experience of mine. The overall interview experience was neutral, as I wish the representative had been a little more conversational.

Application Developer at CGI Group

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Lebanon, VA Nov 2011 – Reviewed Nov 9, 2011

Interview Details – First I emailed the college recruiter and set up a time to interview on-campus. Then at the interview they asked behavioral type questions. After this they contacted me to attend an onsite interview where they had a general presentation by the Lead Manager of the Commercial side of CGI, followed by a group presentation by HR going over benefits. Then we had an open panel interview with other employees of CGI where we could ask any questions of the employees to get an inside perspective. Then the afternoon was three 1:1 interviews consisting of behavioral questions for two of them, and then a skills test. Everyone was very nice and the interviews were mostly relaxed. There were 20+ people interviewing at the same time I was. Everyone was very nice and CGI treated us very well with lunch and dinner.

Interview Question – What experiences have you had delegating work, and how did they turn out?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Just know that since this is an "offshore" employment site that the pay is a little lower, but the location is a very low cost so the pay difference balances out.

Administrative Support at CGI Group

No Offer – Interviewed in Durham, NC Sep 2011 – Reviewed Oct 31, 2011

Interview Details – I'm a Software Engineer, but I was approached by CGI for a Tomcat Admin position. I'm in the area, so there was no phone interview before the onsite (part of the reason is also the position is low profile). The interview day organized but not as much as it should be. After 2 interviews, both sides knew that the position is not what I was looking for. However, CGI never returned or followed up on the result of the interview.

Business Analyst at CGI Group

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Lebanon, VA Jun 2010 – Reviewed Jun 30, 2011

Interview Details – I applied online but had no response to my application. Then I had someone I know submit my resume to some folks in charge of hiring and had an interview offer the same day. I went in for the interview and had three one on one sessions with different folks. I also talked with someone else who I would be working with/doing similar tasks. They asked me some technical questions and the only question that threw me off was about my knowledge of networking/background of networking (none).

Interview Questions

  • What do you know about networking?   Answer Question
  • The light bulb question - how do you tell if a light switch turns on a light bulb in another room.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I tried to negotiate for moving expenses from where I lived (out of state), but the CGI policy is to only provide moving expenses for college hires from the location of your parent's home. Also, I tried to negotiate starting pay with statistics gathered from online. Basically college hires are not allowed to negotiate.

Receptionist at CGI Group

No Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY Dec 2010 – Reviewed Jan 17, 2011

Interview Details – I applied for CGI back in October 2009, I finally got my first phone interview on December, the recruiter told me I will be getting a call from the manager to schedule a 1-1 interview in Dec. I interviewed with two people, after I was told that everything went well but they would like to interview more candidates. 2 weeks ago I got a call from the recruiter to schedule another interview with the manager again cause they wanted me to meet with more people who wanted to interview me. So i went on the interview Dec, 10th 2011, and they told me i should be hearing back from the recruiter that week cause they were making the final decisions that day. Well now its been a week and I have not heard from anyone at CGI. Why is that? Im a bit concerned because I would like to know if I got the job or not?

Consultant at CGI Group

No Offer – Interviewed in Washington, DC Apr 2010 – Reviewed Aug 28, 2010

Interview Details – Typical half hour college interview with a bunch of personality questions. I wasn't graduating for another year so I was told that there will be no offer coming from that interview. However I recently got a call asking me to come for a follow up this semester. The interview was pretty easy with basic personality questions asking to describe obstacles, difficult coworkers, leadership experience, and free time activities. I was also allowed to ask questions about the company and how i would fit into it since I don't have much (basically none) programming experience. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the interview was in the form of a conversational rather than interrogation. At the end I was asked if I had any closing remarks about anything on my resume or transcript - a gesture I appreciated because I did want to clarify a few points.

Interview Question – Describe a time when you didn't get along with a coworker or team member. How did you deal with it?   View Answer
