I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at CGI Group.
Interview Details –
The interview process for CGI is very straight forward. The HR rep will contact you by phone, for a quick interview. Then if first impressions are good, you will be invited to one of the CGI offices for a face to face interview with the Manager of the department you applied to, and the HR rep.
- CGI dress code is quite important here, it is cultural. Dress up, tie-ready at a minimum (Full suit for extra points).
- Questions will revolve around past experiences, what is your impression of CGI, what are your expectations.
- A written exam on your technical skills is usually also required, and done in the first interview.
Interview Question – - How do you describe yourself? Answer Question
Negotiation Details –
CGI does not have a transparent fixed pay policy. Each new recruit will negotiate his own salary upon acceptance. This will vary based on skills, experience, education and most importantly the current needs at the company.
You will be asked what salary you expect, this will influence the initial offer from HR heavily. When answering this question, go at least 10-15% above your real expectations.
Second, if you know someone at CGI, try to find out if they are desperate for staff with your technical knowledge. This will also aid in getting a good starting salary.
I applied through a recruiter and the process took 6 days - interviewed at CGI Group in October 2013.
Interview Details –
This was simple: their HR reached me by phone and appointed technical interview.
Interview was by Skype, conference call and remote desktop all together.
There were no introductions or greetings. They simply gave me the task and asked me to solve it. It took me longer than they have expected. Once I have told them I have finished the implementation of first part, they said, they have no time for the rest part of interview and bye bye.
That is it.
Interview Question –
1) Implement silverlight application which converts string "<color name>_<number>" (for example "red_1") to textbox properties:
<color_name> - the color name of text
<number> - if number % 2 == 0, set color A, otherwise set color B
You have to use IValueConverter and data binding.
2) write function which takes valid directory path as argument and prints out 10 biggest files in path's sub tree. Use recursive algorithm. <- i din't have enough time to finish it.
It must work without crashes and must show comprehensive error messages. View Answer
I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at CGI Group in October 2013.
Interview Details –
The interview process was comprised of 2 steps:
First was the interview with HR, here the interviewer would want to know more about the person at hand, graduation level, academic projects, hobbies and basic knowledge.
Second and last was already at client site. The interview was done with 2 persons of different areas, one where I would eventually stay. This one was more technical focused than the previous one, technologies used and the reason for choosing it and as well as knowledge about the business area of the client.
Interview Question – The choice of university Answer Question
Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at CGI Group in September 2013.
Interview Details – First interview was with an HR consultant, second interview was with a project manager. No technical resource was utilized for the interview process.
Interview Question – Asked where I saw myself in five years; this is typically a bogus throw-away question for someone in my field. View Answer
Negotiation Details – I was able to negotiate a staring salary just under $60,000 / year. I recommend strongly to negotiate for a higher salary than usual as you will be stuck at that figure with no bonuses or profit share for many years going forward.
