No Offer – Interviewed in Irving, TX Feb 2013 – Reviewed Feb 13, 2013
Interview Details – I had a phone interview with a very nice woman who does the screenings. After I gave her my experience, she thought I'd be perfect for the job. She set up a f2f interview for 02/13/13. Me and several other candidates took a tour and were ushered into a waiting area. The people giving tours are from CareerBuilder. In my interview, the recruiter did most of the talking. I answered all her questions and asked a few of my own. I talked about my previous positions and duties, my understanding of their expectations. I was then taken downstairs to wait for results. They had the career builder rep come in to tell me that she was told I was not a good fit. Why? They claim I wasn't engaged enough and I didn't look professional. I am not understanding this decision as I had every qualification required and 5 years of experience in the healthcare industry. What exact engagement level are they looking for because I thought the interview went well. As for not looking professional, I was wearing a long dress, it's not like I had on jeans. I walked out disappointed. I've never been told I didn't get a job because of appearance. There needed to be elaboration on "you're not engaged enough".
Interview Question – She didn't ask very many questions and did most of the talking. Kept complaining that she forgot the questions since she had spoken to and seen so many people that day. Answer Question

Interview Details –
The title of the position didn't reflect the position's actual responsibilities. The incumbant who functioned under a clerical title left because there was no advancement opportunities.
I had 2 interviews - one with a Director and the other with the President in the same day. The last meeting was well over an hour. The first meeting was pretty standard. We discussed my education and experience. The interviewer seemed to gloss over job responsibilities which is not too strange given that development offices are often small and everyone pitches in where needed. The bad part however was that I didn't get a good sense of what I'd be doing - period.
The meeting with the President was enjoyable and pleasant. He and his management team are trying hard to make this a satisfying career for whoever they hire. I say this b/c the job description changed when I responded to the usual 'Where do you see yourself in 5 years" question. He also admitted this.
I left the interview knowing that I wasn't a good fit for the company but actually enjoyed the experience (go figure). I even received a letter stating that an offer was extended to someone else which is rare now a days.
