Interviewed Apr 2010 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took 2 months)
started off with a phone interview; that led to two face to face interviews. then a background/work experience check. i would say it was huge overkill for a position that pay 13 an hour

Interviewed Apr 2011 (took 3 days)
The interview was pretty easy, seriously. They asked questions that were already written on a HR sheet.
They choosed to hire someone else, since they needed someone not just for the summer, but for all the time, and since I'm a student, I didn't knew my school schedule for next autumn at that time...Otherwise, they told me I was a good prospect.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I applied online, I got a call within the week for a phone interview the following Tuesday in the morning. Tuesday afternoon the branch called me and set up an interview for later in the week. The week after my group interview I got a call and an offer for the job, I accepted. They did a background/reference check, which was rather annoying, but understandable.

Interviewed May 2010 (took a day)
I applied for the customer service representative position, and I was contacted (phone) to do an interview within a few days. It was only one interview with two individuals back in the spring of this year. I didn't do much preparation because it was an entry level position. I just tried to brush up on my behavioural questions.
The interview was relaxed and seemed a tad informal actually. It was mostly behavioural and "getting-to-know-you" type questions (about 12 or 13 or so). A couple of knowledge-based questions. I got the offer the next day. The workplace is very structured and rigid. Not a lot of room for flexibility but great people working there.
My advice? Don't sweat it. Just know what you did in your previous job(s) or school experience and somehow tie it in to the customer service position.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 2 weeks)
The interviews at CIBC seem to be pretty standard. The managers read from a paper sometime write down your answers or check off a box. If you don't do very well at your first face to face interview don't worry the next interveiw will be the same questions.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 1 week)
Hiring is begun through an online process whereby you upload your resume, complete a few questions about employment eligibility and rank your skills by which one was the strongest.
Interview process can broken down into two stage; Phone interview followed by an interview with the manager and another senior employee at the branch you are at. The phone interview is conducted by a regional HR rep and takes 30 minutes. Expect behavioral questions like "tell me a time when you were given extra work to do to deadline and what was the outcome?" and "tell me a time when you made a mistake and what was the outcome?"
Although I was told that I could be called back within the week, an hour after the interview I was phoned by the bank to come in for a bank interview. The in-person interview was much like the phone interview (even the extra work question came up again) with standard behavioral questions ("tell me a time when you turned a customer's negative experience into a positive one") and the garden market "where do you see yourself in five years?". I was also asked the opaque question "what does the term 'professionalism' mean to you?"
Like most interviews preparation is the key to success here. Go through all your jobs on your resume and think about how you can use previous situations to answer the behavioral questions. If you have time, visit the branch and get a look at how they dress. I didn't do the latter and as a result my impeccable suit and tie was noticed for all the wrong reasons.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Calgary, AB (Canada) (took 5 days)
telephone interview first, followed by a reference check, and waiting for the panel interview now. Questions like, why do you choose CIBC. Tell me a time that you have exceeded customers expectation, how do they react. Tell me a time you made a mistake. The HR consultant will go through your resume to ask related questions. I was asked 5 references.

It really depends on the manager that interviewed you. Some managers looked for CSR's that can sell banking products, while other managers are looking for CSR's that are efficient and accuracy. It would be better if you can speak more than one language. Questions that most likely they're going to ask are how do u deal with difficult clients? how do u handle customer complains? etc.
