Interviewed Sep 2011 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took a day)
The interview was for an Associate position within CIBC's Technology Leadership Associate Program (TLAP). It was in a group interview format with two interviewers. Overall, the interview atmosphere was very relaxed and the interviewers (one of whom was a current TLAP associate) took a lot of notes in the process.
They started off by asking questions such as 'Why TLAP', 'Walk me through your resume', 'What are your career goals'. They then went on to ask some situational/behavioural questions.
- Describe a failure you faced.
- What did you learn from the failure?
- Give an example when you applied that learning.
- Tell me about a time when you had to persuade someone to agree to your viewpoint.
- Explain your weaknesses.
- Do you have any questions for me?

the person who was supposed to interview me was in a meeting so another person in HR took me into the interview room and conducted it. she had her cell phone on the desk throughout the interview. it vibrated twice. she picked up her phone and did some texting. this all happened while i was answering her questions. no professionalism at all.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took a day)
it seemed that the hiring manager hadn't read through my resume as she didn't know where i worked. i knew at that point i wasn't a front runner for the position. however, that didn't deter me from giving it my all. i thought i did a stand up job considering how the interview started out.

started off with a phone interview; that led to two face to face interviews. then a background/work experience check. i would say it was huge overkill for a position that pay 13 an hour
