Interviewed May 2010 in Los Angeles, CA (took 1+ week)
I applied for an internship position sometime late April, and then three weeks later I got a call from the internship coordinator. She just wanted to confirm a few things, like if I was able to get college credit. Then she told me that she would pass my resume to the senior producer. Several days passed after that phone call and I got anxious so I called her to check in on my status. She said she was glad I called and assured me she would prod the producer again to call the candidates. A few more days pass again and I get a call in the morning from the senior producer asking if I was free to answer some questions. I had just rolled out of bed, but I was so excited I said yes, go ahead. He asked pretty standard interview questions like "why do you want to intern at CNN?" and "What is your strength and what's your weakness?" After he asked his questions and I asked my questions, he said that he was going to call a few more candidates. I thanked him, hung up, and then a few hours later he called back offering me the internship.

Negotiation Details
I was fortunate because CNN had just implemented required pay for interns starting that summer. It's an internship position, so the pay isn't really negotiable. As for arranging my hours, they were very flexible.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview.
