    Maintenance Technician Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 weeksinterviewed at CTS Corporation.

    Interview

I was brought in through an outside contract company for a trial basis that would lead to direct hire. After a brief initial phone conversation with the head of maintenance I was asked to come in for a very laid back 1 on 1 interview with the person that would be my direct boss. There was a second interview with the direct boss and an engineer knowledgeable in my field. Again, very laid back atmosphere.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

Pay was non-negotiable but I did get some vacation time up front along with my start date retroactive to when I first came in on contract.

    Interview

Got an interview through college and had an telephone interview set up. The interview was around 40 min long and only with HR. He asked me a few questions on the technical part but not many.

    Negotiation

They offered me an apartment after some negotiation.

    Lead Project Engineer Interview

    Neutral Experience

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at CTS Corporation (Elkhart, IN) in January 2011.

    Interview

Strange. I first interviewed with a younger engineering manager. It was short. Asked my education and experience, then shut down and stated it wasn't a good fit for him. I then was interviewed for a similar job under a different person about 2 weeks later, who pulled-in the VP, who also interviewed me. The opposite response for the second position.

    Interview Questions

    • Normal questions about my education and experience. How many years experience, are you local and why don't you go to a location that will pay higher salaries? (I have three college degrees, MBA, engineering degree, automotive degree, some patents, etc.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

Their needs were much lower than my last job, so I had to accept a position $15,000/yr less than my last job, 3 weeks instead of 5 weeks vacation, no Christmas plant shutdown, 401k was much less too. They knew that the market was still rough for the higher end of the scale. No rude behavior or disgusting tactics on their part. They were professionals.

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at CTS Corporation (Streetsville, ON (Canada)) in April 2008.

    Interview

Somewhat disorganized interview process and interview structure. Both interviewers were relatively new to the company and were not able to answer questions about company history in detail. Interview tends to focus on personality and fit within the corporate culture rather than specific skills, which are taken for granted based on your educational background. Work culture is relaxed and casual. Office could use major facelift to bring it up to modern standards and expectations for companies of this size and age.

    Interview Questions

    • Describe a time in your past where you have had to deal with conflict.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Negotiating is straight-forward with no hidden tactics.
