Assistant Manager at CVS Caremark

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Paramus, NJ Feb 2012 – Reviewed Feb 22, 2012

Interview Details – Do not even waste your time if you are applying for a management position ,the management team used the group interview format and kept about 30 applicants for about 2 hours talking about the company and then after the first round of interview, the final 6 were asked to wait, then after one more hour waiting to be called, the final 3 were called and by that time I really felt like they were gathering info about other companies and I noticed that as some of the managers were leaving for the day, they kept talking about doing the same the next week. They offered the position but not before insulting me with a very low salary figure and explaning how lucky I was to be offered a job with "one of the best Co. to work for". I thanked them for their time and left.

Assistant Manager at CVS Caremark

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Houston, TX Dec 2008 – Reviewed Sep 16, 2010

Interview Details – I applied online and was contacted within a few days to set-up a personal interview. I went to the Regional HR office and talked with the HR manager. We had a very good conversation and he told me he had several other people to talk with and would be back in touch within a week. I waited about 2 weeks with no response so wrote a thank you note telling him I enjoyed the meeting and was sorry to hear I was not being considered. Immediately he sent me an email telling me I was still in the running. I went for a second interview with the training store manager a couple of days later and had a good conversation with him. The HR manager contacted me and told me they were interested that I would need to take a drug test and have a background check. Those were both completed almost immediately and I was then made an offer that matched the company I had been with. I felt good about this at the time as I was being hired as an assistant store manager. At the time everyone seemed very professional and willing to help new people succeed. My advice is to be patient with the process, sometimes they get involved in their own processes and don't convey that information to the candidate.

Negotiation Details – I was able to negotiate a salary that matched my previous company. I would suggest looking at average salaries and starting a bit on the high side.
