It took several months to complete and that was not unexpected. First interviewed for a lower level position on site at the corporate office. It took the better part of the day, including separate interviews with HR, department staff and department managers. I didn't hear anything for about 3 weeks. Then I was called in by the Division manager to interview for the Sign Mgr. position. This also took about a day to complete, but I spent the whole day with that manager. It involved an in-office interview, a portfolio review, lunch with the manager and then an impromptu tour of the town. It started out quite formal and as the day progressed became more informal. All in all a very good interview experience for me up to that point. I left expecting to hear back soon from the manager. I did, and he gave me 'an assignment' to come up with some logo designs with rather strict criteria and deadlines to be met. The logos were submitted and discussed. In the discussion the manager apologized and said that I 'misunderstood' what he had asked for. He then gave me a different assignment to be completed in a shorter time frame. I got the impression he may have been deciding how I worked under pressure, changing project parameters, etc. Upon completion of that assignment I was told that they were acceptable and that I may hear back from them in a couple weeks. There were other candidates they were talking to. About two weeks later the manager called and offered me the job.
