Senior Software Engineer Interview

Easy Interview

Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Canonical (Indianapolis, IN) in March 2012.

Interview

Interview process was fairly straight forward. Canonical looks for the right people and can be selective if they don't believe you are the right fit. They wanted to make sure that I had all of the skills required for the position, that I'm self-motivated, had prior open source software development experience, and am comfortable with working from home.

Interview Questions

  • Should all software be open sourced?   Answer Question
  • How well do you do working from home? Do you have any prior experience working from home?   Answer Question

Negotiation

I had no need to negotiate. I gave my salary requirements and they gave me exactly what I asked for. They also gave me more paid time off than my previous employer.
