I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Capital One in March 2014.
Interview Details – Applied through university recruiting posting, received notification that I had been selected for a phone business case. After the phone business case, which was not difficult, yet was awkward due to it being on the phone, I was invited to the final round interviews in Richmond. Final round consisted of flying in, staying the night at the Hilton, then two case interviews and a behavioral interview the next day.
Interview Question – Cases were definitely intended to be more quantitative than other business cases I've encountered in interviews, yet not impossible. Cases focused on the response rates of various advertising segments, arms, and another concerning credit card demographic segments. Answer Question
I applied through college or university and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Capital One in February 2014.
Interview Details – I applied through my college career services center and was invited to an on-campus interview. That interview consisted of one case about profit maximization and price setting for an on-site gym. I didn't feel like the interview went well, but a few hours later I received an email invitation to fly to Capital One headquarters for a final interview. Two weeks later I interviewed at headquarters in Richmond. There I had two case interviews and one behavioral interview. One case was about credit cards and the other was about whether or not to enter into a market for a certain good. The staff were very friendly, but it's pretty obvious that they do a lot of interviews. Don't expect to feel like they are rolling out the red carpet for you.
Interview Question – I was given a table with a breakdown of revenue channels and costs for the past few years and I had to use that data to determine whether it was a good decision to invest in that business. The hardest part was finding the company's marginal cost of an additional unit from that price. Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Capital One in February 2014.
Interview Details – I applied online. After a week, I got an email and was requested to set up a technical phone screen with me. I talked with a senior statistician around 45 minutes, and he was a kind person. However, the voice quality of the phone interview was terrible. First, I was asked some basic statistics questions for example p-value,standard deviation, correlation, multicolinearity. After that, He asked me questions regarding logistic regression. Finally, the last application question was related to donation. I believe that I respond to questions properly except the last one.
Interview Question – The last application question was a little bit confusing. I did not really get what I was supposed to do. Answer Question
I applied through college or university and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Capital One in January 2014.
Interview Details – The on-site interview was divided into 4 parts. 1 Behavior interview, 1 Role play interview and 2 case interview. In the behavior interview, they will ask you "tell me a time when...". And they will send you a behavior question list prior to the interview so that you will have time to prepare. The cases are all about business questions even I was applying for a statistical modeling position. They still want you to be familiar with the business concepts.
Interview Question – The business cases are unexpected. I thought they would be statistical related. But unfortunitely they are all about business. Answer Question
I applied through college or university and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Capital One in February 2013.
Interview Details – Initial contact was on campus through university recruiting. After submitting a resume and cover letter, I was contacted to do a phone interview pre-screen. The pre-screen was a fairly simple business case that involved a little bit of algebra and solving for company profits as a function of costs, price, and quantity sold of a couple of different products.
Afterwards I was contacted to fly out to the Richmond office to interview in person. There was a single behavioral interview, and all of the questions in this interview were provided the night before by an HR representative. The other interviews were all business case problems, principally ones that revolved around the credit card industry, although there was one that was a little bit more abstract.
Interview Question – After presenting a situation in which companies bid to provide utility services to consumers, the interviewer asked me about how companies would choose to bid in order to maximize their profits. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiation.
I applied online and interviewed at Capital One.
Interview Details – One-on-one interview with manager. Basic interview questions of: "Tell me about yourself" and "Why do you want to work here?" As well as some light behavioral interview questions such as: "Tell me about a time you had a difficult customer." etc... Took approx. 30-45 minutes.
Interview Question – First behavioral interview so, any questions asking for story or S.O.A.R. responses were new and annoying. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – None at this low level.

Interview Details – Selected after applying online from my university website to interview on campus. The on campus interview was a single 1:1 case interview with no behavioral or resume discussion. By the end of the week I was asked to travel out to either of their headquarter locations and participate in an onsite interview. The onsite interview was over the course of a day with two additional case interviews and two behavioral/resume discussion interviews,
