Interviewed Aug 2011 in Boston, MA (took a day)
I met with 5 different people and talked to them each one on one for anywhere from 15-30 minutes. They had two positions open on two different accounts and I met the people I would be working with on those accounts. Everyone was very friendly, positive, and easy to talk to.
They asked pretty standard interview questions- why do you want to be in Media? what is an ad campaign you've seen recently that you like? how do you handle tough projects/overcome obstacles? why do you think you are a good fit for this position? etc. They told me a lot about Carat and they way they work and also a lot about what it is like to be in Media Planning. At Carat the work seems very collaborative. They aren't separated into traditional and digital, everyone works across channels, which I thought was pretty great. It would be a good place to have an entry-level position like this to be able to be exposed to all the various aspects of media planning.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took a day)
Interviewed with 3 managers, one male 2 female. The male manager was very nice. The 2 females
managers were very rude! One told me that I needed to be more detailed on my resume. I never had
any complaints on my resume from other potential employers..Not very bright. The other female manager
didn't think I could handle the job even though I've been doing this kind of work for over 10 years. She also
told me that she needed to hire someone who is mature and I am much older than her! Overall I'm glad
I didn't get the job. Would want to work under those rude female managers

Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed May 2010 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 1 week)
All the right ingredients for an effective process, but lacked professionalism and structure. There was no or little support for logistics and on the day staff members came in and out of interviews and seemed more interested in the lunch than the applicants they were eating with.
The components of the interview and the competencies tested made sense but the numerical evaluation for everything along with the bureaucracy that is strangling the process is not what would be expected of such an organisation.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Offer was too low and company uninspiring.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in New York, NY (took 2 months)
Really enjoyed all the folks I met with and felt I had a good rapport. I met with HR, the person to whom I would directly report, and 3 other members of the team. Reception area was very pleasant--decent place to wait but didn't have to wait long. Had hour-long conversations with each in a casual environment. Offices were quite impressive. Follow-up from HR was pretty non-existent after the interviews. I sent more than one email asking for an update or some feedback and never received a response.
