Interviewed Feb 2012 in Raleigh, NC (took a day)
I went to my college career fair and i spoke with the company representative. She told me about the coop/ internship opportunity they have at caterpillar. She asked of my interest and what are my career goals. After a week, i got an email to set up a one hour interview with them. On the day of the interview, I was first interview by a techical company representative for thirty minutes. She asked me question about my coursework and technical skills. The second half of the interview is with a HR company representative. She asked me alot of behavorial questions. I will definitely say i struggled with the behavioral question My advice for interviewees especially with technical background is to well prepared for behavioral questions. The interviewers were nice because they laughed to my jokes.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Peoria, IL (took a day)
Met with two different recruiters from Cat, each individually. They asked questions, mostly behavioral-based about my past and some questions about my resume and why I wanted to work for Caterpillar. I was nervous, but looking back it was a pretty easy interview. They were friendly and it was over before I new it.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 3 weeks)
After applying, I was offered an interview. Interview consisted initially with 1 HR manager followed by another interview with 3 HR managers. Definitely recommend to use the website for information about Cat as well as possible interview questions they may ask! Basic behavioral questions like "Name a time you worked within a group" or "Why Cat?"

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took a day)
2 back-to-back interviews (one-on-one). Both interviewers were very friendly and easily answered my questions. Questions on serving the customer, teamwork, etc.
The interview was great, but process after receiving offer was terrible. Time between interview and offer was long, whereas time given to reply to offer was short. Internship offer was very vague. No phone number given, and no reply whatsoever from the company after I declined.

Reason for Declining
Compensation was exceptionally low, felt brushed off by company.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took a day)
The interview consisted of two one on one interviews. I had this interview a while ago so I don't remember many of the questions but a couple that stuck out to me were 1. describe a situation where you had to lead a group of people and how it ended up. 2. Is there anything that you are doing outside of school to aid in your engineering education. 3. Has there ever been a situation on a job where you have made a mistake? and what did you do to resolve it.
The people were very nice and informative and it was very easy to have a nice conversation with them. They just asked some hard questions.
