City Bus Driver Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Centre Area Transportation Authority.
Interview Details – First you must have a passenger endorsement to carry passengers,they do train you to driver their vehicles,you have to be prepared to drive days/nights and holidays with various shifts,you must have a professional attire,be prepared to ask and answer questions pertaining to your driving history,they do road test you promptly and push you to be a swift yet safe driver,also you have to as always remember to be helpful and courteous to all passenger no matter what and be prepared for any and all situations,follow all routings,route changes as they do occur,and oncall shift changes and always never say no to offerred overtime,it also helps to sign up for it,it also helps to pick up a ride guide from them and driver the routes and learn the towns by yourself so that you know what your doing and where you are going also it doesnt help to enforce all the rules there and never over load the bus infront past the yellow/while line you can lose your job that way,also being patient and cool headed on the job helps no matter the situation,also always look out for anyone,person,vehicle(car,bike,truck,student)that is also riding with you inside or outside of the bus its always best to be a defensive driver,yet still being aggressive enough to keep the bus/route you are driving on time,also it helps to alway keep aware or places on campus and along routes as to where the public bathrooms are and be aware of all of your surroundings are while working especially if you are a driver,being a professional driver is a good job but takes dilligance,and knowing your rights as a driver,and learning all the rules and regulations to work there,also even if you do your job like any and all jobs it may be a union job but that doesnt mean that you wont be fired or rehired it has happenned,the job is good if you like to drive,but it does help to go ride on their bus for a day and get a good look at what the job is all about.
