    Interview

Got a call from HR, which was followed by video interview by some solution architect. He asked me the same allergy question and SQL related queries. I was asked to write code for the allergy question , which included writing methods for manipulating data. A lot of SQL related questions , use of %? The worst part is that they never get back to you. You can waste your time mailing them but its all in vain. If you don't hear from them after a week from your video interview. MOVE ON

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Cerner (London, England (UK)).

    Interview

Applied online, had a telephone interview which went well then an interview with three people 45 minutes each at their office in Paddington. This was then followed by a tour. Cerner is an amazing company to work for. Their solutions are truly remarkable and their training is probably one of the best in the world. The interviewers were really friendly, and the questions were fairly simple. First few questions are based on your CV and what you have done, and then the remaining are behavioural questions. On this occasion, I did not get the job, as there were people who had more consulting experience than me, though this could have easily been derived from my CV. To prepare for the interview, travel and go through a gruelling 2/3 hour interview, simply to be turned out because I don't have the same experience as other candidates, is really disappointing. I believe the smarter option would have been, gather all candidates' CVs, see those that have consulting experience and then let the others go. And, perhaps it would've been useful to include this in the job description. If I had seen I would need consulting experience, I would not apply. Also, as I applied for a junior role, I didn't realise my lack of consulting experience would affect my chances. However, when competition is this tough, I guess you would need experience for even entry level/junior/graduate roles. I was told by the recruiter to go get consulting experience and then try again. Though, if I had consulting experience, why would I need to apply for a junior role? Cerner do not offer detailed feedback after interview stage.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Cerner (Kansas City, MO) in March 2013.

    Interview

This was around spring of 2013, but from what I hear the process is relatively the same. 1.) Did a phone interview in February. It was very cheerful and the recruiter opened up very comfortably. She asked me 3 basic behavioral questions. First one was "What attracted you to apply here" followed by "Name a time when you were put under pressure and had to resolve it" and lastly "Name a time when you had to teach someone about technology" 2.) This was followed with a paid for onsite interview (I believe they mostly do Skype interviews as of 2014 and onward). Our interview group had dinner the first night that was paid for by the company where an employee from the Cerner got to sit at each table and answer our questions about what they do company culture, etc. The following day, we start with interviews which are only a little tougher than the phone interview. The dress is business jeans casual, and relatively relaxed. Two interviewers for 45 minutes each asked 3 behavioral questions. My last interview at the very end asked what I like to do for fun, and he got really into my hobby. The rest of our interview ended on a good note after that and I actually ended up getting his email. 3.) A few weeks later I got the acceptance letter via email, and the rest is history. My salary negotiation was standard, but I've noticed if you work 1 or 2 years out of college the pay is bumped up just a little higher than average by 1k or 2k.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Cerner (Malvern, PA).

    Interview

I applied to be a recruiting assistant online through a job search engine and received an email about two weeks later requesting an interview. After that I had a video interview two weeks after the offer, followed by a second phone interview shortly after. The job was offered, but sadly I was unable to take it, because of timing with my other job which required I stay on for another month and Cerner could not push back the start date. Thankfully, two weeks after I could not take the job I received an email from a different recruiter asking if I would be interested in a different position - Executive Assistant. After two phone interviews and an in person interview, I was was given an offer. The second interview process took a month.

    Interview Questions

    • Tell me about a time when you worked with a difficult person. What three things are you looking for in a job? Where do you see yourself professionally in ten years? How would you handle being inexperienced in this job? What past experience equips you for this role? Several situational/experience questions.   Answer Question
