Interviewed Jan 2012 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 weeks)
I talked to the recruiter via e-mail and set up a phone interview within a few days I had my phone interview which was very basic; company overview, some behavioral questions, etc (interview lasted about 30 min). After that an onsite interview was set up for the next week. The interview consisted of interviewing with 3 different people in 1:1 interviews. which were all very basic as well lots of behavioral/situational questions! I was told I'd be contacted within a week or so with the news of if I got the position or not.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 6 weeks)
First Interview: 30 minute phone interview from a recruiter. Asked questions about my resume and experience. Asked a few behavioral questions. STAR Questions
After "passing" the first interview, I got a call from the recruiter saying I was invited to the next set of interviews. This is called the "Cerner Experience"
The Cerner Experience consisted of a day of learning about Cerner. It also consisted of two back to back 30 minute interviews.
They said it would take 2 to 3 weeks. That was correct.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 days)
I was contacted by one of Cerner's recruiters who found me from Dice.com. She said they were hiring 200 people by January and asked a little bit about my previous experience and salary expectations but she didn't ask any real technical questions and there was no phone interview. The company flew me to their campus on a Wednesday, paid $50 for various travel expenses and had me stay in a Sheraton. The next morning I went to the interview. They schedule 3 people to interview with from different departments and they're scheduled for 45 minutes (although most ended earlier). They're all working off similar interview sheets so sometimes two people would ask the same question. They didn't have a lot of technical questions (and the ones they did have were pretty easy).

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 weeks)
Cerner is very professional in their hiring practices. They made me feel right at home, and everyone in my interview cohort left Cerner feeling like they had aced their interview; a fact which is I'm sure untrue, but speaks to how gracious they were as a interviewers. The interviews consisted of one phone interview in which I was asked to describe my work experience and talk briefly about my education (this was not with an HR person, but with a system engineer who had volunteered to talk with me).
After my phone interview, they let me know that they would like to fly me to Kansas City for final round interviews. This was handled with the utmost professionalism. They took care of booking my flight, sent a driver to pick me up from the airport, put me up in a top-notch downtown hotel, and took all the interviewers out to dinner. It was fantastic.
As for the in-person interviews, there were two interviews, each about 45 minutes long. They did not ask technical questions, but instead asked abstract questions which were meant to make me think on the spot. The interviewers were very friendly and made me feel very relaxed.
About 10 days after my trip to Kansas City, they called me to offer the job.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 6 weeks)
I first applied online and received a call from someone HR who asked me a few questions about my resume. Then she said she wanted to schedule a phone interview (even though that felt like it was one). A week later I had the phone interview with someone in HR and they asked me very weird behavioral questions (tell me about a time you had to adjust a client's expectations... I'm in college, I don't have clients!). I had gotten about three hours of sleep the night before and thought I totally bombed the interview but apparently not because I was asked to come to the final round in Kansas City.
The night before, we were taken on a tour of the city which I was surprisingly impressed with. It's more of a city than I pictured and they have done some great things in recent years to spruce it up. Then we had a very nice dinner but seats were assigned and I ended up sitting next to some awkward people.
The next day you are given an iPad to play with and given a couple of presentations on both Cerner and the role. There is also a panel with people in the role. You will have 3 1:1 interviews with employees in different areas with standard behavioral/resume walkthrough questions. You will also get a tour of campus and lunch at the cafeteria.
A week later I received an offer with a starting salary of $48,000 for the position.
Overall Cerner seemed like a very nice place to work. They have an on-site gym and clinic as well as daycare. They are very health oriented so there are weight loss challenges and incentives within the company. However, it seemed like the employees worked too hard and they were constantly making excuses for this.

Reason for Declining
I received a higher offer ($60,000) from Epic for the same sort of position and it also seemed like a more fun place to work.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 days)
Easy behavioral questions, 3 rounds of interviews. The recruiter was rather slow to respond. Took about 3 weeks before I heard back. After office visit was aware that I had another offer outstanding and still didn't call to offer me a position until about 3 hours before the other offer was due.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 days)
After a successful first-round behavioral interview on campus, I was invited to Kansas City for two days to finish two remaining interviews.
They put me up in an amazing hotel in downtown KC, and provided a bus tour of the city and a social hour/dinner on the first night. During social hour and dinner you'll get to chat with a handful of current employees and some recruiters. Ask questions, show interest, get noticed in a good way!
The second day took place on Innovations campus in south KC. The interviews were done first to get them out of the way. They were part behavioral and part technical. The behavioral questions should be answered in the STAR fashion, and the technical questions usually ask about some commands in UNIX or other general tech questions. Then there were a few presentations on different aspects of Cerner, the Velocity program, etc. During lunch there were a few current employees available to answer questions and talk about their experiences, and after lunch they gave a tour of Innovations campus, followed by a peer panel and a final presentation. Prior to departure they will tell you approximately how long it should take to hear back from your recruiter.
I heard from my recruiter 6 days after my interview. He made the offer on the first phone call.

Negotiation Details
Don't be afraid to negotiate! Just because they don't offer a signing bonus initially doesn't mean you can't get one if you ask for it. They're pretty firm on salary but the bonus is usually a good option to push for.

I got the interview through a College or University and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 weeks)
I recieved a call from about 6 months after the last time i applied for a positoin. She asked if iw as still interested and wanted to know what i was looking for and then did a quick phone interview. She then asked me to come in for a a 1.5 hour, interview process with 3 different people. The people rotated between me and the other people applying and all had a list of questions to ask. After that, i was told i'd hear something within a week. After a week i was told they were interested but were trying to come up with an offer. A few days later i was given an offer. Good word of advice for the phone interveiw, be broad, do not try to be super specific, because you don't know what position they are wanting you for so if you are too specific about a certain area, they may not want to bring you in.

Negotiation Details
I was not able to negotiate. I was brought into an entry level positoin so they didn't let me negotiate at all.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Kansas City, MO (took 2 weeks)
I had two one on one interviews. Technical interviews with questions about programming, data structures and testing. I was shown a program and told to say what is would be the output. One was string reversal. I was told to illustrate working of binary search in an example array.
They were taking notes for each question. I had two one on one interviews. Apart from two interviews, they showed us around the campus as well as around Kansas city. We were treated very nicely. I havent heard back from them with result though. HR was responsive and good. Overall interview was a great experience I am still waiting for result.
